A girl i know got pregnant at 20. Her boyfriend begged her not to “ruin his future” and disappeared soon after
Thing is… abortion had just been banned where they lived.
So while she was forced to carry the pregnancy, he kept posting beach trips, buying new stuffs, and telling people he was “too young to settle down.”
She dropped out of uni because morning sickness got so bad. Her parents started raising the baby with her while she went to work.

In Abuja a couple of years ago, was having a meeting with a young man in his early 30s.
He casually complained to me how a house he bought for N700m did not meet the standard he expected.
Nepo son of a popular Kano family.
Me that came to the meeting as CEO of a property company, did not have a house that is worth that amount.
I felt I hadn't achieved anything in life 😀
What do you mean you own a N700m house this man 😀
There was this baba I saw in the clinic.
“Baba, what’s your complaint today?”
Baba pulled out a paper containing a complete clerking. He said his daughter wrote everything down and asked him to give it to the doctor attending to him. Omo, complete clerking 😭😂
The daughter is a medical student. He said she had gone back to school the previous day; otherwise, she would have followed him to the clinic herself.
I was genuinely impressed. Her diagnosis aligned with mine perfectly. I even sent kudos to her because, honestly, I never expected something like that.
Nobody in the hospital believed Dr. Yusuf and Amira would ever get along.
If anything, most staff prayed not to put them on the same shift because arguments somehow followed them naturally.
Amira was a nurse. Smart, loud, stubborn, funny at the worst possible moments, and completely impossible to intimidate. Patients loved her because she made even serious hospital environments feel human again.
Then there was Yusuf.
Quiet. Disciplined. Too serious for his own age.
That man moved through the hospital like somebody permanently exhausted by noise. He hated disorganization, hated lateness, hated unnecessary talking. Even the way he answered questions sounded emotionally controlled.
And unfortunately for him, Amira represented everything noisy about life.
Their problems started during a night shift after a motorcycle accident patient was rushed in around 2am. Yusuf gave quick instructions while handling another emergency at the same time, but Amira challenged one of his decisions immediately in front of other staff.
“You didn’t even check his breathing properly.”
Yusuf looked at her calmly and replied:
“I know what I’m doing.”
And Amira covered her mouth slightly and muttered under her breath, thinking he wouldn’t hear her:
“That confidence will cost you a patient one day.”
The entire emergency room was silent. He heard her.
Yusuf slowly looked up at her with a sharp, suspicious expression.
Meanwhile Amira just stood there looking completely unbothered, her face carrying that careless “and what about it?” expression that irritated him even more.
From that day, tension entered permanently between them.

Exposed: Confusion as Abuja gospel centre’s name appears on Nigerian passport payment platform
* Applicants raise alarm over alleged religious link in immigration payment system
Fresh concerns have emerged over the integrity of Nigeria’s passport payment system after applicants reported that the name Dunamis International Gospel Centre appeared during transactions on an official immigration payment platform.
Muslim News Nigeria gathered that the issue was specifically observed by applicants processing payments through the Nigerian embassy in Frankfurt, a major city in Germany, raising international dimensions to the controversy.
Users attempting to pay passport renewal fees via the platform of the Nigeria Immigration Service said the account name displayed during payment authorisation bore the name of the Abuja-based church, rather than a government institution.
One applicant, reacting to the development, questioned: “How can the remittance gateway of a Nigerian embassy be going to a gospel centre?”
The unusual appearance has sparked confusion and concern among Nigerians, particularly given the sensitive nature of government financial transactions and the country’s religious diversity.
Another user added that if it were the name of a Nigerian mosque or an Islamic organisation that appeared, there would likely have been widespread outrage, with some Christians quick to label it as “Islamisation of Nigeria.”
Findings show that the payment system is powered by Paystack, a widely used digital payments platform. However, it remains unclear why a religious organisation’s name would surface within a government-linked transaction flow.
As of the time of filing this report, officials at the Nigerian embassy in Frankfurt were unable to provide an explanation regarding the anomaly. Similarly, neither the Nigeria Immigration Service nor Paystack has issued any official statement addressing the concerns.
Recurring concerns over religious links
A similar concern has also been raised in the past.
Muslim News findings revealed that this is not the first time such issues have surfaced around Nigeria’s foreign missions. In 2025, Nigerian human rights organisations criticised the Nigeria High Commission in London for selecting venues for a passport intervention exercise that were reportedly linked to a religious body, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
The groups including the Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) said their investigation discovered that all the published venues for the exercise were either facilities belonging to the church or centres formerly established by the denomination, including locations where RCCG’s name had been removed from signage but remained the recognised owner
MPAC Executive Chairman, Mal Disu Kamor described the arrangement as “deeply troubling” and inappropriate for a highly diverse Nigerian diaspora comprising Muslims, Christians from various denominations, and non-religious citizens.
The development, at the time, raised concerns among stakeholders, who warned that the use of religious-affiliated facilities for official government functions could create perceptions of bias and deepen sensitivities in Nigeria’s multi-religious society.
Calls for transparency
Observers say the latest development involving the appearance of Dunamis International Gospel Centre in a government-linked payment process further underscores the need for transparency and accountability in the management of public services, particularly in sensitive areas involving finance and religion.
They warned that failure by relevant authorities to promptly clarify the situation could erode public trust and fuel avoidable tensions among Nigeria’s diverse population. - from @muslimnews_NG
