A few days ago, Shankar, Delhi's last remaining African elephant died in captivity at the Delhi zoo. @dhawan_niki , a young animal rights activist who had been fighting for his rescue for years, hopes his untimely death can prevent a similar fate for Mysuru's Rambo:

NEWS ON SHANKAR & RAMBO
We at @youthforanimals have a commitment letter from Vantara sanctuary to take in both Shankar and Rambo if the High Powered Committee of the Indian Supreme Court would allow. They have 6 other rescued African elephants from Europe under their care.

[𝐍𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐃𝐡𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧 ❀𓃰❀ @dhawan_niki]

We have a commitment letter from a well equipped sanctuary in India that is willing to house both Shankar & Rambo. We hope the HPC will take note of the elephants' plight as they are right now kept (1) solitary (2) in constricted spaces (3) without specialized health management

[𝐍𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐃𝐡𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧 ❀𓃰❀ @dhawan_niki]

Regarding Shankar at the Delhi zoo and Rambo at the Mysore Zoo, we at @youthforanimals have sent a petition to the High Powered Committee (HPC) constituted by the Supreme Court of India. Our request is to transfer the two African #elephants to a credible sanctuary in #India

Premier colony in New Delhi, Vasant Vihar, a host to 18 schools and 50+ Embassies/ Missions is now a civic mess despite paying the highest property taxes. Urgent intervention is required
