#ADHD-PI in grad school (STEM PhD). Chronically overwhelmed, perpetually struggling, trying my best. Keeping this acct as a diary of my ADHD chronicles.
#AskADHD how do you bring yourself to cook with executive dysfunction? tips to make it less overwhelming? been relying on uber eats and it's not good for my wallet. resources/ADHD friendly cookbooks/recipes would be so so appreciated 🍽️❤️ thank you!!
Let’s talk about IBNUs: an #ADHD thread 🧵 (1/5)
IBNU (Ib-new) is the term I use as shorthand for tasks that are “important but not urgent”
…aka, the tasks those with ADHD often don’t get to unless they *become* urgent, at which point it’s often a crisis.
Is accountability actually everything with ADHD?
Been having some real successes after investing in ADHD coaching and personal training over the past month.
Costly, but potentially worth it?
#adhd fact of the day: ADHD has actually been known in the medical community since the 1800s. It's gone under different names like Hyperkinetic Disorder, but contrary to popular belief, it wasn't invented by "big pharma" in the 80s or whatever.
Someone told me I HAD to do the thing I was already planning to do, so now I can’t do the thing.
I can’t really explain why I can’t do the thing, I just… can’t do the thing.
It can be so incredibly hard to trust yourself when you have ADHD.
ADHD'ers often have no idea whether we're going to be able to finish the thought we're currently having, let alone an important task, project, or commitment

i can't remember who, but when i was in college, someone older once told me that as a student, your #1 weapon is being able to shamelessly reach out to anyone you want with any questions you have/advice you need and it honestly unlocked so much for me
Disclaimer: not claiming that all people with ADHD struggle with this, just meditating on the executive-function-of-saying-no link :)
This may affect some, many, or most ADHD'ers, but I'm sure some of you got saying "No" down really well. If so, kudos! And teach me your ways :D
Woah. I just had some epiphanies about the relationship between ADHD and people pleasing!! Thread 🧵:
One reason I tend to automatically say "yes" to doing stuff for others is that I can't find a reason to say no on the spot 🤷♀️ So I just default to "yes sure" (1/)
Also, TIME IS OUR MOST PRECIOUS RESOURCE OF ALL.
WHEN YOU SAY YES TO SOMETHING, YOU'RE SAYING NO TO MANY OTHER THINGS.
OTHERS WILL WANT YOUR TIME AND ENERGY TO BENEFIT THEM, AT THE EXPENSE OF YOUR OWN RECHARGE TIME, PERSONAL TIME, ETC.
IT'S NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS. (8/)
