Well, I opened that can of worms and finally got my diagnosis after 4 hours talking to a psychologist, 1 hour of her talking to a parent, 2x self assessments, 1 x friend assessment, 17 pages of notes from me, 3 months of solid investigation, & I still feel imposter syndrome 🙃
Has anyone got some experience with high blood pressure and Ritalin they can talk about? If my blood pressure has spiked and isn’t just a weird reading, I’m gonna be taken off my meds :/ it’s special authority renewal time too so it’s really bad timing #askadhd#adhd
1st Adderall update, hour 6: I have never in my entire life felt this way. My mind is beyond quiet, beyond still. It’s as if I can do whatever I put my mind to but I don’t feel rushed, stressed, overwhelmed, or frantic. This is a really special kind of focused peace. Wow.
Emotional dysregulation is common in #ADHD. So is emotional impulsivity, due to impaired response inhibition.
Stimuli happens, we respond. No pause in which to consider if it’s a good idea.
What this means is we react with raw emotion.
This is why we need help w/our brakes.
I might but only cos I just press “go” and it does it’s thing and it’s just too much admin to choose a setting 😅 I don’t actually know if it is hot or not
What's a sign that you're getting *too* depressed? - I think more people need to be more aware of the less talked about signs -
I'll start:
When I literally just want to sleep all day, or when I'm counting down the hours to bedtime. But multiple days in a row.
Question for ADHDers ~ whats your experience with lovebombing, whether intentional or accidental, whether it’s from yourself or from someone else? I know ADHD makes us more susceptible to it too because dopamine #askADHD #askingADHD #adhdtwitter #ADHD #lovebombing #NPD #dopamine
@Catherine_andy If you are using iCloud to store shit, 64gb will be fine too. I also recommend using it to record audio as you take notes cos I find the combo great for when something is missed. And have a look for bluetooth keyboards
#adhd fact of the day: Before a lot of people get their ADHD diagnosis, they often find themselves self-medicating with caffeine. If medication doesn't work for you or isn't your choice, timing your caffeine intake can really help you with your focus.
@strawberryautie It’s beautiful for brain numbing or just holding off the hangry until your food arrives. Or looking busy in public when you don’t wanna engage with people lol. Search a special interest or current hyperfixation or a song you like and that can help tailor things to what you like
@strawberryautie I also watch a lot of reels and TikTok’s with my sound off because they typically have captions 😂 it’s great. But yeah it can be overwhelming, depends how you use it. I like using it for killing time or taking my mind off certain things
@strawberryautie You can definitely curate your feed - it just may take some effort first. Or you can ask a friend on Tiktok to send you some good things and then you can like and interact with that content and it will learn quickly. There’s so much content that you’ll be able to find your vibe✨
@strawberryautie But supermarkets are soooo designed to optimise sales, layout and shelf layout and the way you are forced to walk and the music will probably have some marketing department controlling it too. And we probably all hate it but they’ll be like “nah it is proven to increase profit”🙄
@strawberryautie Oh same but I highly doubt they considered anything but neurotypical responses and looked at mass reactions. It’s the same with elevator music. But I think the science of it is less applied at least in smaller stores too because that’s just a Spotify playlist not curated
