@IAPonomarenko Excellent news! Russian supply lines will be their Achilles heel and low Russian soldier morale means Ukraine has the upper hand. Слава Україні! #Putinisaloser

[Anita Demkiv @AdinEnergy]

@igorsushko There's plenty of blame to go around for partners not supporting Ukraine, but your posts have refrained from criticizing Trump. Why?

[Jay in Kyiv @JayinKyiv]

And thar she blows, the LARGEST refinery in Russia, at a distance of 2300km from Ukraine, with capacity of 440,000 barrels/day, burning after the long hand of Ukrainian justice descended upon the filth and squalor of Putin's savage hellscape.

Omsk!

Negotiations to end the war in Ukraine "have expanded to include a multibillion-dollar oil deal that would benefit Middle Eastern business executives with ties to the two main U.S. negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner" reports @nytimes

Trump blamed Zelenskyy for the rise in diesel prices. In reality, Russian diesel accounts for less than 10% of the market, and the blame for the price hike lies with Trump’s senseless war in Iran.

However, another aspect is more interesting: Trump is not calling on Putin to end the war; instead, he is effectively pressuring Ukraine to surrender.

To be absolutely clear: the president of the country that signed the Budapest Memorandum—and effectively stripped Ukraine of its nuclear weapons—is now accusing Ukraine of daring not to surrender to the aggressor.

With Saudi oil now blockaded, Americans are about to discover why maintaining stability in the Middle East and not handing it to a consortium of Russia and Iran was always important.

Walking through every step of Trump's actions in Iran, it almost seems like a wishlist drafted in the Kremlin.

- Start a war with Iran that drives up oil prices
-Take sanctions off Russia long enough to allow 180 million barrels of unpurchased floating crude oil to be sold at high prices
- Burn up US interceptor stockpile with no plan for mass production
- Cut off Ukraine's supply
- Refuse to aid Saudi Arabia as Houthis blockade Bab el-Mandeb Strait

Next up - $200/barrel oil and take sanctions off Russia as solution.

The Russians are deliberately targeting residential buildings in Kyiv.
Putin's party in Germany, the AfD, led by Weidel, will be pleased.
Weidel's SS grandfather would have been pleased, too.

MERZ: For four and a half years, Ukraine has been fighting for its survival, and no one — yes, no one — has threatened Russia...

[AfD shouting and interrupting Merz]

Let me say this again now, quite calmly. We support Ukraine, and we will continue to support Ukraine.

Because they are also defending our freedom, even here in the middle of our European continent.

And your [AfD] reactions only show that you clearly intend to continue this downright grotesque reversal of perpetrator and victim.

No one has threatened Russia. Not NATO, not European Union, not Germany. And your [AfD] reactions show exactly how you think.

Ladies and gentlemen, the only thing that truly threatens Russia and Putin is the radiance of democracy.

Ukraine was on its way into European democratic family, and that is precisely the real danger to Putin’s regime in Russia.

And you in AfD know that, yet you remain unchanged on Russia’s side when it comes to defending our freedom here as well.

Mr. Kushner, Putin started this war. Speaking in the language of win-win business deals about war and peace means that you are ready to reward military conquest and the slaughter of innocents. Please try using a different metaphor. Thank you.

Russia needs to learn the concept of reciprocity.

Moscow launched this unprovoked war and has targeted Ukraine’s energy grid for years without hesitation. Now Putin claims it is purely civilian infrastructure. Is he openly admitting to war crimes?

FAFO, as they say

Oslo Quietly Loosens Its Grip on Uncle Sam’s IOUs

Norway’s $2.3 trillion oil fund, the world’s largest, has written to the Finance Ministry proposing that government bonds shrink from 70 to 50 percent of its fixed income benchmark. Since US Treasuries are by far the biggest slab of that pile, more than two trillion kroner of them, Washington’s most reliable creditor is politely suggesting it would rather hold something else.

The official reasoning is dry as a Treasury auction. Nicolai Tangen and central bank governor Ida Wolden Bache want to weight sovereign debt by market value rather than GDP, and shift money into corporate bonds and mortgage-backed securities, which they argue offer better returns and still cushion equity crashes.

Parliament has to approve it, and nobody in Oslo will say the word Trump out loud.

Nobody needs to. The clip is the Treasury Secretary blaming Ukraine for fuel prices, for the crime of hitting Russian refineries rather than the country that invaded it. It has nothing to do with bond benchmarks, and everything to do with why a careful Nordic creditor is checking the exits.

Whenever Washington has to choose a side, it keeps landing on Moscow’s, and the people who used to queue up for American debt have noticed.

FUKUYAMA: Trump remains pro-Russian. I don’t believe for a minute that he’s become more sympathetic to Ukraine. He’s frustrated because he thought Russians would actually defeat Ukraine, and he’s unhappy that this hasn’t forced them into settlement. But he hasn’t switched sides.

[Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський @ZelenskyyUa]

It was from Russia that the first missiles and the first drones came, and they crossed our country’s border from Russian airspace. This escalation cannot and will not remain confined to Ukrainian territory.

Today, we want to warn every airline that uses Russian airspace, every insurer, and everyone who still uses Russia’s key airports: Russian airspace is becoming completely unsafe. Ukraine does not threaten civilian aviation as such – not a single civilian aircraft. There will simply be drones in Russia’s skies on a scale that has to be taken into account. Although the Russian authorities are not properly informing people about this, Russian airspace will effectively be closing – the war started by Russia is closing its skies.

We in Ukraine do not want innocent lives to be lost. That is why we are warning our partners: the safe days in Russia’s skies are over. It is important that this is heard by the ambassadors of countries represented here in Ukraine, as well as by ambassadors working in Moscow. Every one of them knows exactly what Russia’s war means for our country and our people, and they must convey this information to their capitals. It is important that the airlines currently flying to airports primarily in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other key destinations in Russia hear this as well.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and our other institutions will provide international organizations with full information about the dangers in Russian airspace. Drone-infested skies are no place for civilian aviation.

From the evening address.

[Gandalv @Microinteracti1]

The Skies Over Russia Just Got Interesting.

Zelensky has done something rather magnificent here, which is to declare Russian airspace unsafe with the cheerful politeness of a man telling you the restaurant you booked has a rat problem. He is not threatening a single civilian aircraft, you understand. Heavens no.

There will simply be an enormous number of drones up there, and physics will do the rest.

The genius is in the audience. This is not a message for the Kremlin, it is a memo to every airline accountant and insurance underwriter still pretending that flights into Moscow are a normal commercial proposition. Insurers do not care about ideology. They care about actuarial tables, and those tables just caught fire.

Russia started a war and exported it by missile and drone across a border. Now the war is coming home to its departure lounges, and no amount of Kremlin silence will reroute it.
