The Congress govt in Telangana is shamelessly trying to auction 400 acres of HCU land in Kancha Gachibowli, and when Hyderabad University students protested, they were brutally beaten by the police.
BJP stands firmly with the students and their fight to protect public land, while Congress uses police force to crush voices and hide its corruption.
Despite the stay order from the High Court and directives from the Ministry of Environment on the destruction of trees at HCU in Gachibowli, the dictatorial Congress Govt. in Telangana continues transporting chopped trees and debris during the night.
This video, as received from the HCU students exposes the Congress Govt. in Telangana which is brazenly defying both the judiciary and environmental regulations.
The Telangana government proceeded with the clearance of land in Kancha Gachibowli village, Hyderabad's IT corridor, despite increasing protests from the University of Hyderabad students. This activity began on Sunday afternoon and continued into Monday, with additional earthmovers being brought in to expedite the process.
Situated in Rangareddy district, the state plans to auction 400 acres in Kancha Gachibowli, anticipating revenues between Rs 10,000 to 15,000 crore. The government asserts ownership of the land and aims to develop it into a hub with world-class IT parks, enhanced urban connectivity, and improved urban living spaces.
University students report that about 50 earthmovers are actively removing the greenery, disrupting the ecosystem even as a petition to preserve the area as a national park awaits a hearing in the High Court scheduled for April 7. The clearance of Kancha Gachibowli Forest (KGF) is expected to drastically impact the local climate, potentially increasing temperatures in the area by 1 to 4 degrees Celsius, according to a report.
An Ecological Heritage report by researcher Arun Vasireddy highlights that KGF hosts 233 bird species—more than the diversity found in KBR National Park and others around Hyderabad. The report emphasizes the low maintenance cost of the forest compared to the exorbitant expenses required to recreate even a small portion of such a natural habitat.
On Sunday, over 50 students were detained by Cyberabad police for attempting to prevent the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TIIC) from clearing the land. These students, citing a joint study by the University of Hyderabad and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)-India conducted in 2008-09, argue that the area is a biodiverse ecosystem with over 455 species of flora and fauna, including various herbs, shrubs, and wildlife species.
Meet 18-year-old Boveni Yugendar, a first-year IMA Hindi student at the University of Hyderabad.
Alone but determined, he has begun a hunger strike at the university’s main gate—to protest against the alleged destruction of forest cover at Kancha Gachibowli
Telangana govt has decided to auction 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli.
Students of the University of Hyderabad are protesting, citing concerns that the land is ecologically sensitive, rich in wildlife and also home to a water body. Several students were manhandled and detained by the police.
Remember the Aarey protests? Bollywood celebrities protested against the Metro car shed in Aarey, even though their Film City, located deep inside Aarey, caused the most harm to the region. Today, they remain silent.
And, the Congress, which was one of the leading voices against the Metro car shed in Aarey, is now using earthmovers to clear 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli, Telangana.
Hon’ble CM @revanth_anumula Garu, request you to scrap the plan of clearing 400 acres of trees/forest in Kancha Gachibowli which serve as a green lung for the city & also habitat for numerous species of protected wildlife thriving inside it for decades. Clearing the trees will leave wildlife without a home and exacerbate man wildlife conflict. Please stop this 🙏🏻
First - you bulldozed the homes of many poor people in the name of environmental protection!
Next, you went after the tribal hamlets in the name of development. Barren lands and even lizards won’t lay eggs, you had said
Now you come after homes of animals and commit mass murder
Your justification? Development? Government land?
Are you a government or a bulldozer company?!
Are you an elected representative or a real estate agent?!
Destruction is your only motto!
Filing your coffers is the only motto!
I ask you Revanth Reddy - why did your bulldozers work nonstop on a weekend and in the dead of the night?
Why are you afraid of the Court?
What are you hiding?
