His courage ensured the safety of innocent lives during the mission.
He made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty and was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra.🇮🇳

ADG M.V. Pathak Assumes Charge as Coast Guard Commander (Western Seaboard) at Mumbai
A highly decorated and experienced flag officer, ADG Pathak joined the Indian Coast Guard @IndiaCoastGuard in July 1989 and brings with him nearly four decades of distinguished service. He has the rare distinction of commanding all classes of Indian Coast Guard ships, reflecting his vast operational and leadership expertise.Additional Director General M.V. Pathak, PTM, TM formally assumed charge as the Coast Guard Commander Western Seaboard on Monday, 19 January 2026, during an impressive ceremonial parade held in Mumbai.

Throughout his illustrious career, the Flag Officer has held several key operational and administrative appointments. These include Chief of Staff to the Coast Guard Commander (Western Seaboard), Mumbai; Commander Coast Guard (Kerala & Mahe); Principal Director (Administration) at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi; Commander Coast Guard Region (Andaman & Nicobar), Port Blair; Commander Coast Guard Region (North East), Kolkata; and Deputy Director General (Operations & Coastal Security) at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi.
Prior to assuming his present appointment, ADG M.V. Pathak was serving as Deputy Director General (CGSB) at New Delhi.

In recognition of his exceptional service to the nation, the Flag Officer has been awarded the prestigious President’s Tatrakshak Medal (PTM) and Tatrakshak Medal (TM).
On assuming command of the Western Seaboard — one of the most strategically vital maritime zones of the country — ADG Pathak reiterated his priority of strengthening coastal security through close coordination with Central and State agencies. Emphasising the Indian Coast Guard’s unwavering commitment, he reaffirmed adherence to its motto “Vayam Raksham” — “We Protect.”
