I’ve been following the California wildfires closely, and regardless of how they started, the sheer mismanagement—poor planning and lack of essential resources like water—infuriates me beyond words.
Now, instead of taking responsibility, leaders like the Mayor of Los Angeles and Governor Gavin Newsom are deflecting blame, spinning lies, and making excuses. These individuals have no business remaining in politics. Their decisions have led to catastrophic consequences: thousands of acres destroyed, countless homes and lives upended, and at least 11 people confirmed dead so far—a number that will sadly rise.
Politicians should be held accountable and prosecuted far more often, and in this case, Newsom and the mayor must face consequences. Their negligence contributed to a disaster that destroyed lives and livelihoods. This isn’t just another case of political corruption with no clear victims; this is serious, and real people are paying the price.
Do I think they’ll be investigated or prosecuted? Unfortunately, I’d bet the answer is almost certainly no—and that’s a huge problem. Something needs to change.
