Raising global consciousness on the hidden business of adoption.Protecting vulnerable families from a lucrative industry that separates parents & their children
If you can’t afford children, the state takes them away from you so other people who can’t afford children can crowdsource on social media to buy them.
A powerful, insightful, riveting true story of how adopted individuals are exploited, and identities are completely erased.

@RudyOwensMemoir Compiled by Korean adoptees, serves as a tribute to transracially adopted people sent all over the world. It has been hailed to be the first book to give Korean adoptees the opportunity to speak freely since the pioneering of IA after the Korean War. https://t.co/pDWe7AC0qd
In 2014, shortly before the end of my secondment to Against Child Trafficking @ACT_ACT, I was interviewed for a Swedish documentary in the making. It was never broadcasted.
It was meant as a final testimony before I had to go back and get another job @EU_Commission.
Little did I know about the treatment that awaited me.

Child trafficking for intercountry adoption was also done by an adoption agency that got lots of EU funding.
However, @EUAntiFraud refused to look into this.
So, @ACT_ACT went to @EUCourtPress.
The case was lost.
No investigation.

Here the #adoptionlobby clearly explains that the Hague Adoption Convention was meant to INCREASE numbers.
Something the @HCCH_TheHague always denied.
But adoptions went down from 20.000 to less than 2.000.
So what went wrong?

Romania was the first country fully implemeting the Hague Adoption Convention.
Numbers went up from 500 to 3.000 (1997 - 2000).
But, corruption was ripe and the children were no 'orphans', but their parent's parental rights were terminated.

US adoption agencies put pressure on US Congress, who put pressure on the EU.
And very directly on me, the responsible Task Manager of the Romanian Children file.
