What my friends at ACC say about me: Winter has begun warming up since his arrival in the Care Center, and while a little bit fearful and wary, he now allows petting under some conditions. He hissed when first approached with treats on the scratcher tool, but then sniffed them and began eating them, and then allowed petting with the tool. On a second approach, he hissed again, but this time sniffed the treats in the assessor's hand and began eating them and allowed petting on his head. He needs time to continue warming up. Winter tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that he go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. Hi, my name is Winter and the shelter has been a little overwhelming for me. I came from a home with many cats, who I've gotten along with well. Because I've lived in this home my entire life and have only been around one person, I have little experience with people and am hesitant of new experiences. I would enjoy living in a quiet home, preferably one with lots of vertical space so I have a place to perch and observe the room. I would also appreciate having experienced, patient adopter(s) who are willing to take things slow with me. I would benefit from socialization, using rewards whenever I make a small positive step like making eye contact, allowing petting, or sniffing your hand. I'd prefer to take things at my own pace and would appreciate some good old fashion TLC. Some things I do enjoy here are crunchy treats and soft talk. If you can open your heart to adopt a cat like me, I'll hopefully have the confidence to come around to my new people, like you! ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

Evan Got Rhythm is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. Evan Got Rhythm is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and likely are a result of a lack of socialization and fear leading to defensive behaviors. These behaviors may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. 💔😿💔😿💔😿

He will need insulin administration twice daily and regular veterinary visits for diabetes follow-up. Behaviorally, Fluffy has been very interaction and loves petting. This evaluation/diagnosis means that FLUFFY will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥

A volunteer writes: Embracing his unconventional living arrangements and unique designation of resident cat seal, Fluffy stretches out on his giant bed in his enormous dog crate to half roll over and show us his belly. He's currently staying in our medical wing because of some medical needs, hence the crate and bed, but Fluffy seems to emphatically say with every chirp, nuzzle and headbunt that these are just things and what he really wants are friends. A terrifically social senior gentleman, he bounced around a little bit before arriving at his most recent guardian where he was a friendly and quiet couch potato, playing when interested but with a sweet gentleness. Fluffy's now with us looking for a forever home and he's hoping that you'll come in and visit him soon. Fluffy interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻
