@MacroFour @maximumcharacte @whohannah@kevinnbass I understand. Nutrition science has grown exponentially in the last 20 years. Even in my short career.
That’s one of the main reasons we don’t see better options as a part of healthcare.
It takes time to translate the science into cost-effective, evidence-based practice.
@MacroFour @maximumcharacte @whohannah@kevinnbass I’m working on a program that I will collect data for and publish on in the future.
I’m not going to make claims based on past clients poorly documented testimonials.
@whohannah@ascentovalhalla@kevinnbass It’s to point out there’s more to the story, not discredit.
You added the word discredit. I’m not a fan of that word.
All evidence matters. Some is just better than others.
Controlled experimental evidence > Stories that could be fabricated.
@whohannah@ascentovalhalla@kevinnbass Also, they’re an easily accessible form of energy for many people. Not everyone is privileged enough to give up entire food groups for “health”.
@whohannah@ascentovalhalla@kevinnbass Also grains are uniquely health because of their fiber and nutrient content and because their consumption is consistently associated with positive health outcomes in observational and randomized trials. https://t.co/gw5q1qh3O2
@MacroFour @maximumcharacte @whohannah@kevinnbass Your ignoring the logistics of actually promoting behavior change in a cost effective manner within the current healthcare model.
If you care to learn more about this topic, follow me on IG. I’m not going to continue going back and forth with you though.
@MacroFour @maximumcharacte @whohannah@kevinnbass I’ve been modifying my diet for 17 years…in an educational program for 10 of those years and working with >1,000 people for the last 6.
You don’t have the perspective of having any type of relevant experience in this field.
@Maclagan_was_OK @kevinnbass 👍🏽 Or just end up on the whole food spectrum without the story telling. Speaking of, aren’t you the guy who started the thread about seed oils and and sunburns a few weeks ago?
Eh, I’m not religious. I never enjoyed the feeling of being lied to.
To each their own.
@Maclagan_was_OK @kevinnbass Getting closer. Diet pattern > individual ingredients (e.g. sugar, refined grains). The main purpose of the graphic was to demonstrate how unreliable people’s n=1 experiments are, but Twitter flipped it all sorts of ways.
@MacroFour @maximumcharacte @whohannah@kevinnbass This one study showed 60% remission rate with > 150 participants. Your blog and case study are interesting no doubt, but it’s an insignificant piece of data in the grand scope of evidence on this topic https://t.co/HNDmjwimRg
@MacroFour @maximumcharacte @whohannah@kevinnbass “Good enough data for someone else to try the same.” NO. There’s plenty of science on strategies for reversing T2D. Someone else’s anecdote should not be the basis for making decisions about someone’s health.
@MacroFour @maximumcharacte @whohannah@kevinnbass You think because I don’t think your story is as important as you do that it’s dismissal. There are 1,000s of cases of T2D reversal in RCTs and likely millions of anecdotes. I had a client reverse her T2D simply controlling portions and walking. Should I write a blog about it?
@MacroFour @maximumcharacte @whohannah@kevinnbass Your story is a piece of data…just a really weak one. If you want to understand how hierarchy of evidence works in nutrition this is a good place to start https://t.co/aoA52hJgGO
@MacroFour @maximumcharacte @whohannah@kevinnbass As someone who trained in academia and spent a lot of time there, I’m confident most academics won’t agree that internet story telling is a valid form of data - but you’re welcome to hold that opinion.
@MacroFour @maximumcharacte @whohannah@kevinnbass You still didn’t read my original post on IG did you? You just keep sharing about yourself. Anecdotes on the internet will never be a valid form of data - especially when someone has a bias towards a dietary preference and we have thousands of data points from RCTs on a topic.
@MacroFour @maximumcharacte @whohannah@kevinnbass With experiments there are outside controls. With your story, it’s your own recall which is often very shaky at best and subject to your internal biases - which makes for a pretty worthless “experiment”.
