Why would a Flatbush hustler buy a classic six in a luxurious UWS co op … and spend 30 years renovating, never to move in? Commuting over an hour each way for decades?
I’ll never stop talking about this one.

@EmilyGouldNYmag It's because you saw me in my $20 L-Train Vintage men's Levi's knock-off jean jacket with sherpa collar? It's my "new fall look." APC Doll coat meets ... worker.
You know when you catch someone glance your way, see you looking at them, and they react by squinching up their face into a kind of pouty little turned-down smile that suggests 'we're both creatures of urban crowds who will never pass again.' I hate that.
Almost got mowed down by an Amazon bike truck using a CITY SIDEWALK as a high speed roadway. Managed to snap a video after it twisted around me. @JeffBezos@StreetsblogNYC
@meljhawk@EmilyGouldNYmag I left him a VM earlier this week saying something like "I'm sure this sounds crazy but..." and ending with something like "Or maybe I'm one of a dozen people to leave you a message..."
@JayGee47505179@EmilyGouldNYmag In context, I pointed it out to because it's one of the little exaggerations that the store owner has made, telling me he lives in a cabin in the woods and can't be contacted easily. Maybe that's true? But he seems to live in Seattle. Interview was here: https://t.co/rQZVGNBWfe
I’ve been doing this ever since @minakimes told me she does this and I have like ~ 4,000 books, mostly used. It’s really fun to open the freezer and mentally say, “I forgot we got this!” Also a good way to hide new books from children who don’t yet need to be distracted.
Over the weekend, @nytimes reported on the benefits of freezing your books (avoiding mold and bugs).
But I had a freezer book story of my own: a group of @KenyonCollege alum have been keeping copies of Dune in their freezers for over a decade.
