Absolutely ridiculous. Chopping down England’s magical forests in the name of the environment is so bonkers it could only ever be proposed by this laughably incompetent Labour Government.
Years of reforestation are now under threat. 🪓
“Britain is surrounded by natural energy resources, but let’s ignore that and buy £40 billion of oil and gas from Norway, which comes from the same sea that we share with them. Let’s spend £11.6 billion on overseas climate aid. Let’s pay wind power companies millions of pounds to turn the wind turbines off. Let’s spaff away £30 billion on carbon capture machines. Let’s ban gas boilers and put in heat pumps. Let’s end new coal mining licenses and spend millions of pounds for foreign coal to keep Britain's last steel plant running. Let’s plaster solar panels on prime farmland, but also spend £50 million on sun dimming experiments. We will do this in a country that has the fifth least annual sunlight hours.
Let’s vandalise the beautiful British coastline with hundreds of wind turbines that are three times the size of Big Ben and we will pay £millions to regularly switch off. And all of the solar panels and wind turbines will only last 30 years and will end up in landfills after destroying the landscapes.
We now have the most expensive industrial electricity prices in the developed world. The Office for Budget Responsibility has also admitted that Net Zero would cost £800 billion over the next two decades. We can’t afford it, so let’s punish everyone by raising taxes to pay for net zero. But it won’t make a blind bit of difference apart from lining the pockets of net zero linked corporations.”
A relatively new event for #Filey, the switch-on of the Filey Fishtive Tree celebrates the town’s fishing heritage with a spectacular illuminated tree adorned with a giant fish🐟
Enjoy fireworks and live music at the switch-on this Saturday 2 December.
