Trump is unique among malignant narcissists in being of below average intelligence, inarticulate, and poorly read. We almost never see this.
Even malignant narcissists who didn't hold political office (like Ted Bundy) had high IQ's. And "cult of personality" malignant narcissists (like Jim Jones and David Koresh), are especially literate, charismatic, and sharp. The pervasiveness and persuasiveness of cult leaders is almost always enhanced by intelligence, articulacy, clever repartee, and even wit.
Yet Trump is such a loud, boorish, and obvious con, that his political rise speaks as much to our celebrity culture, our consuming of media in echo chambers, his craven enablers, and our aggrieved society. This convergence has created a phenomenon that's made too much of our electorate ... well ... I'll just be nice and call them "susceptible."
At this point, he's so flawed, so owned by his disorders, and so enfeebled, he can't even navigate the very chaos he inflicts - he can't pivot, and can't be contrite, so he gets in deeper. He's become too old, too desperate, too fearful and too unable to process his own mortification. He never had strategic thought nor an ability to play from behind. And he's a lame duck.
All he has now are his cravings, a fantastical desire to reclaim grandiosity, a panicked fear of humiliation, and layers of toxicity. He's unable to satiate from incoming narcissistic nutrition, no matter how often they give him the North Korea treatment; and now Natalie has been tainted.
He is flailing. He keeps making mistakes and keeps screwing up - everything, everywhere, all at once.
His decline is unmistakable. His demise will be spectacular.

The sheer number of lies from President Trump about Canada – growing again today – is remarkable. Just some fact checks from the last 18 months:
- Trump falsely said today that Canada's unemployment rate is "10% and rapidly rising,” though it is 6.4% (under the Canadian method that adds about a percentage point) and has been declining for three months
- Trump falsely said today that Canada does 95% of its business with the US, though 72% of Canadian exports went to the US last year
- Trump falsely said today that high Canadian agricultural tariffs have caused the entire US trade deficit with Canada, though that deficit is overwhelmingly caused by US imports of cheap Canadian crude and though something like 97% of US ag exports to Canada are tariff-free
- Trump has falsely said Canada generally doesn’t “take” US agricultural exports, though Canada is the world’s second-biggest buyer of those exports
- Trump has falsely said the Canadian public likes the idea of becoming the 51st state, which the Canadian public overwhelmingly opposes
- Trump has falsely said Canada is one of the world’s highest-tariff countries, though it is actually low in WTO global rankings
- Trump has falsely said Canada essentially doesn't have a military, though its military has fought with the US in multiple wars and its force size ranks in the upper half of NATO
- Trump has falsely said Canada hiked its dairy tariffs during the Biden administration, though they hadn’t changed since Trump’s first presidency
- Trump has falsely said the US trade deficit with Canada is “$200 billion,” though it is nowhere close
- Trump has falsely said Canada prohibits US banks, though it doesn't and though more than a dozen US banks were operating in Canada at the time he spoke
- Trump has falsely said Canada is “constantly surrounded” by Chinese and Russian ships, though that is fiction
- Trump has falsely said then-outgoing PM Trudeau was using their trade battle to run again for prime minister, though Trudeau obviously wasn’t running

The price of building infrastructure in Canada is far too high, and the pace of permitting it far too slow.

Instead of a 16km Ontario line at $2B/km, we could be building 60km at $500M/km.

Imagine the jobs and material demand we would create?

Fixing how we build, so that we can build much more, should be critical to how we defend our economic future here in Ontario and Canada.

Now would also be a great time to do the long-term planning on infrastructure for energy and transport, and building the domestic supply chains that can keep going producing for decades to come.
