Corporate Greed vs Everyday workers: Life of a contract staff in Nigeria

My father worked at Zenith Manufacturing Ltd in Apapa for 28 years. Never missed a day. Won Best Staff twice at their annual dinner.
Last Monday, the HR manager called him on WhatsApp. 4 minutes. That was it. Retired early. No severance. Nothing.
The same month, the MD flew to Dubai for the company’s “executive retreat.”
Dubai.
My father left Ikorodu at 5am every morning to beat third mainland bridge traffic. Every single day for 28 years. He turned down a government job in 2009 because he believed in that company.

They let go of 280 staff that week. 280 families.
The disengagement letter came via email. They spelled his surname wrong. After 28 years, they couldn’t spell ADEYEMI correctly.
He sat in the parlour that evening and just stared at the wall. My mother kept bringing him tea he never touched. We didn’t know what to say.

What to do when Snake bites

Alot of people initially panic, but please either you or the person that is biting needs to be brave.

Immediately you're bitten, get POWDERED CHARCOAL and rub it on the bite spot and seek for proper medical attention. The charcoal helps to neutralize the venom, give you leeway and help with improvement

If you live close to bushes, have children around, or you've seen snakes in your area, Please have powdered charcoal around you. In farming communities when you see black powder you'll think it's jazz but it's only powdered charcoal we use to neutralize a lot of insects, spiders and reptiles bite.

Repeling Snake in your surroundings.

There's a plant Yorubas call Taba or Tobacco plant, it's a natural snake repellant plant. You only need the seed or cut a branch and plant it. They can survive anywhere. Plant it at the front or backyard or any entrance of your house. No snake will come near you.

Avoiding Snake in your rooms or plumbing.

You need Garlic, Garlic is potent against snakes. Peel garlic and throw some cloves around your living rooms, kitchen and backyard or front yard. The smell repel them.

To avoid it in your plumbing, blend alot of garlic and hot pepper and boil water. Mix the blended garlic, blended pepper and the hot water together. Pour it inside your water closet and flush it. Pour same in your toilet hand wash basin, pour in your bathroom water outlets. Any water outlets pour this mixture. Those snake, insects or dangerous animals can't withstand it.

Beyond this, you need to ensure your surroundings are safe, clear bush timely, clear narrow bush part, ensure cleanliness and have Garlic and Powdered charcoal in your house incase.of anything.

I've been in Abuja for 3 days, and I want to say there are a lot of low hanging fruits the minister should immediately pluck.

1. Why are street lights not working.
2. Why does the capital have a refuse problem.
3. Why is there no proper public transport like buses.
4. Upgrade public schools.
5. Upgrade PHCs
6. Build a lot of mass affordable housing.

Road projects are great, but we should focus on infrastructure that meets people at their need.

I really love exploring complex relationships between parents and their kids especially their firstborns.
