VIDEO | Delhi: On complaint filed in NHRC and NCPCR alleging illegal custody of children and adults by UP Police after workers protest in Noida factories, Advocate and Complainant Subhash Chandran says, “Yesterday, I filed two petitions, one before the National Human Rights Commission and another before the Commission for the Protection of Child Rights. The issue relates to the Noida protest that took place nearly two weeks ago, after which many people are still missing. More than 350 juveniles are unaccounted for, with some reportedly in custody. This is a serious concern, especially as they have not been produced before any court within 24 hours and are allegedly being held in illegal custody by the UP Police. We are now approaching the concerned authorities, seeking the immediate release of those detained, efforts to trace the missing persons, particularly juveniles, compensation for those affected, and action against the officials involved. Our fact-finding teams, which spoke to around 150 to 200 people, initially found that over 350 juveniles are either missing or in custody, and around 1,200 people remain untraceable to their families. While some have since been released, many are still allegedly in illegal custody. Additionally, we have received some preliminary information this morning regarding allegations of sexual abuse in custody. We are taking these claims very seriously and are looking into them further.”

An affidavit attached to a letter (dated March 19,2019) sent by the Election Commission to political parties carried the seal of the BJP Kerala unit instead of the Election Commission’s seal.
This is a first.
We have often heard claims that, no matter which button is pressed on a voting machine, the lotus lights up. But this is the first time it appears as if the BJP and the Election Commission are using the same seal.
Verified update: The document has been received by multiple parties. It has been cross-verified with at least two of the recipients. It is also confirmed that the email originated from the official Election Commission source. #ElectionCommission

Have been receiving a few videos of Christians being threatened ahead of Xmas. This verified video has shocked and angered me. A BJP district vice president Anju Bhargav assaulted and abused a visually impaired girl in MP's Jabalpur, claiming she was enabling ‘religious conversion’ with a cop just standing by. Targeting Indian Christians in this manner ahead of Xmas is pathetic. Is this the mindset we wish to show to the world? SHAME. 😡
#Delhi: Student gets bail in air pollution protest case, court finds no link to banned outfits
A Delhi court has granted bail to Bankaa Aakash, one of the accused in the India gate air pollution protest case, after observing that there was no material evidence connecting him to any banned or radical organisations.
In the order the court noted that while police alleged protestors raised anti-national slogans, blocked traffic and clashed with police at India Gate, the investigation had already secured CCTV footage and seized the accused's mobile phone.
The court said further judicial custody would serve no useful purpose and granted bail on a personal bond of ₹15,000 with one surety of the same amount.
The court also rejected arguments opposing bail solely on the gravity of the offence.
Adv Subhash Chandran, appearing for Aakash, alleged procedural lapses by the Delhi Police.
Aakash, a student from #AndhraPradesh associated with the #SFI, was among several students arrested during protests in Delhi linked to air pollution issues. Police had earlier claimed links to radical or banned groups in connection with some of the detainees.
Significantly, the court highlighted that there was no credible material to substantiate claims of links with banned organisations, paving the way for Aakash's release on bail.
Other students, including three from Kerala, remain under investigation.
Police have alleged possible links of another student, Akshay E.R with Bhagat singh chhatra ekta manch (BSCEM) and individuals suspected to be associated with extremist groups, allegations which are yet to be tested in court soon.
