The Mass offered on the Ascension shares a similarity and indeed its DNA with the later symphony: its Credo features the same four-note motive: in its deployment, in both the mass and symphony, Mozart sets out to achieve some of the same compositional goals to spectacular effect.

Tonight at 6:30 pm we will celebrate the Ascension with a Solemn Mass featuring Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Missa Brevis in F, K 192 for soli, chorus and orchestra, the Kleine Credo-Messe.

Its fourth and final movement is based upon a four-note theme, which Mozart sets in a stunning five-voice fugue as the culmination of the piece.

In 1900, eight bells in the key of E were cast for the Church of the Advent at the Whitechapel Bellfoundry in London through the gift of Robert Codman in memory of his wife, Catherine.

At their dedication on October 7th, 1900 they “were pronounced to be of remarkable richness, dignity and mellowness of tone.” These marvelous bells, the lightest 666 pounds and the heaviest more than 2100 pounds, are still rung by the change ringing guild.

Church School End of the Year Party, this Sunday, May 4th at 10:00 am

Church school students and their families are invited to celebrate another wonderful year in the library, following the 9:00 am Mass. We will have plenty of food and hear reflections from some of the students.

Our sympathy and prayers continue to be with all the members of Fr. Adams’ family, remembering especially Mrs. Adams (Candace) and his daughter, Sister Maria Theotokos SSVM.
