It was farm week for @A4CWaterloo and @STEMovation! @LaurierEdu students introduced the kids to ‘the kids’, made a model stomach, and started their plants pets. We so appreciate the great community support from our favourite local farmer!
Women remain underrepresented in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
On Sunday's #WomenInScience Day, @UNESCO is calling to foster a diverse and inclusive scientific community for innovation and progress.

STEMovation is thrilled to be partnering with Adventure for Change after school on Mondays in Waterloo! This week our Laurier STEMovators helped kids code robots, study the Moon’s craters, and make bath fizzers.
The students in the ‘Intro to International & Comparative Education’ class made great additions to our word wall today. Such a pleasure to work with these engaged and reflective future educators! @LaurierEdu
Our common future depends on sustainable funding for science.
Friday is World #ScienceDay for Peace & Development -- an opportunity to highlight the importance and relevance of science in society and our daily lives. https://t.co/y9vtt1FLxt
The world needs science, and science needs women. 👩🔬🧪

We had an amazing turn out yesterday for our Increasing Teacher Diversity Event! It was incredible to connect with students from equity-deserving groups and inspire them to pursue post-secondary education in teaching 💛💜

2023 #NobelPeacePrize laureate Narges Mohammadi’s brave struggle has come with tremendous personal costs. The Iranian regime has arrested her 13 times, convicted her five times, and sentenced her to a total of 31 years in prison and 154 lashes. Mohammadi is still in prison.
This year’s #NobelPrize laureate in physics Anne L’Huillier discovered that many different overtones of light arose when she transmitted infrared laser light through a noble gas.
Each overtone is a light wave with a given number of cycles for each cycle in the laser light. They are caused by the laser light interacting with atoms in the gas; it gives some electrons extra energy that is then emitted as light. L’Huillier has continued to explore this phenomenon, laying the ground for subsequent breakthroughs.
“Ten years ago I was kicked out and forced to retire.”
Our new medicine laureate Katalin Karikó (@kkariko) told us how much it means to be awarded the Nobel Prize after a scientific career that has been full of challenges.
Ten years ago, Karikó was still doing all her experiments by hand but today she has been awarded the medicine prize for her research on mRNA, which led to the development of COVID-19 vaccines.
Listen now:
Here they are…our dedicated, enthusiastic, and passionate 1st year International Education Studies class! Looking forward to to a great four years together! @LaurierEdu@drstevesider@mariacanwill @LaurierArts

@LaurierEdu a accueilli 25 enseignants d'immersion française sur son campus de Brantford. En regardant STEM dans le programme et en utilisant Mission Sur La Lune comme objectif, nous avons eu beaucoup de plaisir. #FSLchallenge@asc_csa@InkSmith3D@jennifes_jm
