@MultiCommTJU I believe effective forms of communication to be those that are able to fully deliver all of the information that is needed to understand the thing that the form of communication is trying to convey. With context to my research, this came in the form of articles.
@MultiCommTJU The most effective form of communication that I found while searching for information on industrial design's response to the pandemic was that of articles. This is because it was better at delivering info through images and words than other forms of communication.
@MultiCommTJU The articles that I found in looking for industrial design's response to the pandemic did not seem to function differently in terms of rhetoric compared to that of another article. The articles were seemingly just trying to spread word of what designers were doing.
@MultiCommTJU In searching for what industrial designers were doing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic I came across primarily articles that discussed what industrial designers were making, and how they were aiding medical professionals by building medical equipment.
In the article "Industrial Property or Artistic Property?", Stina Teilmann-Lock discusses the difficulties of protecting property rights in the UK, a country with a long industrial history. This will be used as a background source in my writing. @MultiCommTJU
In the article Scare Artist: the Great Canadian Corporate Design Rip-Off, Sean Flinn speaks out on how companies are ripping off designers and taking advantage of their inability to protect and patent their designs. I will use this as a background source. @MultiCommTJU
The ability to communicate in Industrial Design is key, as without it we would not be able to convey our ideas and designs to those not only within our field but to the masses intended to buy the products as well. @MultiCommTJU
In Industrial Design, one of the biggest issues is communication barriers, mainly revolving around the ability to convey ideas effectively through means of not only verbal or written communication, but through that of drawings and visual representations as well. @MultiCommTJU
Before listening to Function, I never knew the backstory behind DDR. It is interesting to think that DDR was a direct influence for games such as Just Dance, and I wonder, without DDR, would games like Just Dance still exist, or even be as popular as they've become? @MultiCommTJU
In the podcast Function, it mentioned how Fortnite has been taking uncopyrighted dances from pop culture and putting them in-game without paying the creators. If a simple copyright would force Fortnite to pay up, Why aren't creators protecting their dances? @MultiCommTJU
In the post by Carol Reiley, I found it interesting that voice recognition was unable to identify those with a higher voice. I wonder why this could be? If it was due to testers having a lower voice, why didnt they test with the target audiences voices? @MultiCommTJU
In reading Navigating Genres by Kerry Dirk, it helped to open my eyes to what a genre actually is, and how I have been making them my whole life without even knowing. Because of this I wonder what are things that I havent known to be genres but are? @MultiCommTJU
Since its original conception, our argument has changed. It has kept a core aspect through its entirity, being the way in which our design fields relate, although most elements are different, especially in the wording. @MultiCommTJU
Out of what my group has accomplished so far, I like how we are incorporating similarities between our different design fields in our thesis, as I feel that most groups may be looking for differences instead. Overall it still needs more work. @MultiCommTJU
The episode I listened to talks about how buses are one of the most efficient ways to travel in many countries, but not the US. I noticed that music played for the intro and they used audio clips for keeping the listener's attention. @MultiCommTJU
In knowing that the main difference between two types of designer is their goals, it starts to blur the lines between different fields of designers, as if your goals changed you could change fields without much fuss. @MultiCommTJU
