Bitget hack: Circle & Tether froze ~$339K of stablecoins linked to it.
Out of ~$387M.
That's the honest reality of "following the money": stablecoins can be frozen, ETH & BTC can't. Most stolen funds are never recovered. Anyone promising otherwise = red flag.
Bitget lost ~$387M and no private keys were stolen.
Attackers broke into a backend system, faked the transaction data, and let Bitget's own approval system sign off.
Not stealing the bank's keys. Forging the paperwork the bank trusts.
@WazzCrypto@UniqueReborn Keep up the good work ... always happy to help ... security auditor here ... now standing on giants (AI agents) shoulders ... we need to secure that space back to OG days ... it has to be really decentralized play with real value ... not shitcoins craze
@WazzCrypto@UniqueReborn Before launch, the tool typically:
Builds an Address Lookup Table (ALT) containing the wallets, the token accounts to be created, and the program accounts. Versioned (v0) transactions can then refer to accounts by a 1-byte index instead of a 32-byte address.
@WazzCrypto@UniqueReborn The disperser moves SOL from a main wallet into the generated wallets. A Solana transaction can hold many SystemProgram::transfer instructions, so one transaction can fund around 20 wallets.
@WazzCrypto@UniqueReborn Traces left: a shared funding ancestor a few hops back, funding in a tight time window, amounts clustered in a range, and leftover balances that line up with fees plus rent.
Here's just an excerpt of the launches linked to this operation sorted by amount of money extracted
Curiously the launch that triggered this investigation ($DEED), doesn't even make it to the top 10 most money extracted here.
Fomo adlı uygulamayı sildim nedenini çok basitçe açıklayım;
I just uncovered the biggest serial Rugpulling and Extraction operation on Robinhood
The same operation is linked 53 launches within a 2 month period
Total Extracted: $18.43 MILLION
very likely more this is just what I could directly link

The exchange breach that actually hurts you isn't the one that steals funds. It's the one that leaks your name next to your holdings, years before anyone acts on it.
crypto is fucking wild
we built a financial system so we wouldnt have to trust anyone with our money
then we put it all on exchanges
word is that @bitget just got hacked for over ~$350m
praying nobody i know is affected
pretty timely reminder of what we were trying to fix
Developers just figured out a way to hide who sent bitcoin, who received it, and how much moved, without changing Bitcoin itself.
This new proposed idea is not a fork around the protocol or new cryptocurrency. This is how Bitcoin was designed, a base layer people can innovate on without asking permission.
On Thursday, researcher Misha Komarov and colleagues published Shielded Bitcoin, a Zcash-style shielded pool for Bitcoin’s base layer.
Encrypted notes and zero-knowledge proofs ride along in ordinary Bitcoin transactions. Separate software checks that no coins are created from nothing and none are spent twice.
There is no company running the pool, no sidechain, and no soft fork. Funds go in and out through cryptographic vaults Komarov has been building, called PIPEs, so no federation has to hold the bitcoin.
Miners do not enforce the privacy rules. Invalid shielded data can still land in a block, indexers simply ignore it.
The trade is: Bitcoin stays conservative, and the experiment lives on top of it. If it works, private transfers arrive the way most of Bitcoin’s best ideas have, not by rewriting the constitution, but by building on the settlement layer everyone already trusts.
Gold, meet privacy. 🪙
We're building Hush Bullion: a vault-backed gold token on Tari's Ootle.
Real bullion. Private transfers. A chain merge-mined with Monero.
More soon. 👀

Synthetic gold backed by XMR collateral. This would work like a stablecoin: no vault, just XMR collateral and a price oracle. It needs smart contracts, so it would have to live on Tari or a future Monero L2. It's interesting as research, but I don't know of any working version.
The extra yield France has to pay over Germany on 10-year debt is going vertical.
If Politico is right and the US really imposes a 90-day diesel export ban, Europe is heading into a financial crisis.
