Ece1 is a highly conserved hypha-specific polyprotein, a part of which is processed to form candidalysin. Candidalysin is a pore forming toxin that plays a pivotal role during infections. Rita and @Aennekin1 describe the role of the conserved, but overlooked, NCEPs.
Our very own Rita Müller presenting her work @VAAM_microbes on how - team work makes the dream work! The conserved polyprotein structure of ece1 helps safely transports the peptide toxin candidalysin out of 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘢 𝘢𝘭𝘣𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘴, which helps it establish an infection.
On Tuesday evening, Adrian presented our ongoing work on establishing a gut-on-chip model to mimic Vibrio cholerae infections in a human context at the @MPSWorldSummit in Berlin.
Thanks for all the inspiring scientific exchange during the Poster Session!
