Question for Canadian flyers.

If an airline employee lost approximately $350 worth of your duty-free purchases, and when you asked for your belongings to be returned you were deplaned instead, would you keep flying with that airline?
Because that’s exactly what happened to me on an @AirCanada flight at Toronto Pearson.

Months later, I’m still waiting for a meaningful response. The items were eventually found, but that doesn’t explain why they were lost in the first place, why I was removed from the aircraft for asking for my property back, or why Air Canada has still not taken accountability.

It’s important to note that all of this occurred because they failed to accommodate my child with special needs. It was HELL from the beginning of our travel experience with this airline and we continue to feel the aftermath of this terrible experience. Not one person from Air Canada has reached out to address this concern. Instead, they have actively avoided responding and passed it on to their security department.

I’m genuinely curious: if this happened to you, what would you do?

Enhancing passenger comfort is great. Enhancing accountability would be even better.

I’m still waiting for a meaningful response to my complaint about being wrongfully deplaned at Toronto Pearson and the mishandling of approximately $350 in duty-free purchases. Passenger care shouldn’t end when something goes wrong.

Interesting that @AirCanada is promoting improvements to in-flight rest, yet still has not addressed my complaint about being deplaned at Toronto Pearson or the approximately $350 in duty-free items that went missing afterward. Enhancing passenger comfort is important, but so is resolving outstanding issues.

Although the items were later reportedly “found,” that does not erase how this was handled or the fact that I was left without my property. My complaint was classified as a security matter, and I have received no meaningful explanation, accountability or resolution.

How much longer am I expected to wait for a substantive response?

The irony of a white man posting this is almost comical. White people spent centuries perfecting violence through slavery, colonization, lynch mobs, the KKK, white nationalist terrorism and state-sanctioned brutality, yet you’ve convinced yourself the greatest threat to society is… halal.

Canada has literally designated white extremist groups such as the Proud Boys, Atomwaffen Division, The Base, Blood & Honour, Combat 18, Aryan Strikeforce and the Three Percenters as terrorist organizations. Yet somehow, none of them earned a spot on your little list.

Then you included “hatred of dogs,” as though that’s somehow unique to Muslims. Plenty of Muslims own and love dogs.

Ironically, Black people have also long been stereotyped as “hating dogs.” The difference is that our stereotype wasn’t born out of religion. It was born out of terror. White people weaponized dogs to hunt enslaved Black people, attack civil rights protesters and terrorize Black communities. That legacy is still alive. Just ask Jadarrius Rose. While standing with his hands raised in surrender, an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper can be heard yelling, “Do not release the dog with his hands up!” Circleville Police Officer Ryan Speakman released the K-9 anyway, and Rose was mauled as he screamed for help.

If this were genuinely about violence, white nationalism would’ve made your list long before halal. This isn’t public concern. It’s racism disguised as public concern.
