Today in Algeria, a nation that endured 132 years of French colonization and genocide, Pope Leo XIV said :

“Our presence here pays tribute to the spirit of a people who fought for their independence, dignity and sovereignty. […]
God desires peace for every nation : a peace that is not merely the absence of conflict, but an expression of justice and dignity.”

Colonization is a crime, whether in
Algeria yesterday or in Palestine today.

Peace without justice is hypocrisy.

" يمكن استبدال أي امرأة… يمكنك أن تجد امرأة جديدة تطبخ لك، أو تستلقي بجانبك، أو تنشر الصور معك. يمكنك أن تتصفح خياراتك، وتدخل في رفقة مؤقتة بتمريرة إصبع، بل وتُقنع نفسك أن المضيّ قدمًا أم��ٌ سهل. لكن دعنا نكون صادقين… بعض النساء؟ لا يتكرّرن.

المرأة التي وقفت إلى جانبك حين لم يكن لديك شيء… حين كان لديك من الإمكانات أكثر مما لديك من الخطط، ومن الأعذار أكثر مما لديك من الاستقرار، ومن الأحلام أكثر مما لديك من الانضباط هذه مختلفة. المرأة التي رأت فيك ما تجاهله العالم… التي بقيت وفيّة لا لما كنت تستطيع أن تمنحه، بل لما كانت تؤمن أنك قادر على أن تصبحه. هذا النوع من النساء نادر. وهذا النوع من الحب نادر.

لأنها لم تبقَ من أجل الراحة… بل بقيت وسط الفوضى. لم تحبك لمكانتك… بل أحبتك عبر ألمك. سكبت فيك حين كان كوبك فارغًا. شجّعتك حين لم تكن تؤمن بنفسك. دافعت عنك حين شكّك الناس فيك. صلّت لأجلك، وسندتك، وبنت معك… لا لأنك كنت كاملًا، بل لأن قلبها كان صادقًا، وولاءها عميقًا.

وحين كان العالم يعرض عليها “المزيد”… مزيدًا من المال، مزيدًا من الاستقرار، مزيدًا من الرفاهية… اختارتك أنت. لا لأنها كانت بلا خيارات، بل لأنها قدّرت الارتباط الحقيقي. لأنها رأت روحك. لأنها آمنت بـالحب لا بنمط الحياة فقط. لم تكن تطارد المكانة… كانت تستثمر في الجوهر. وهذا النوع من النساء التي تضحي، وترفع، وتحمي، وتبقى متجذّرة في الحب حين يبدو كل شيء آخر غير مؤكد لا يمكن استبدالها.

قد تلتقي بمن تبدو أجمل. أو أقل عاطفة، وأكثر “مرحًا”، وربما أكثر “سهولة”. لكنك لن تجد امرأة أخرى تحبك من الجوهر. امرأة تفهم صمتك. تحفظ البيت خلف الأبواب المغلقة. تمسح دموعك في الخفاء وتحتفل بانتصاراتك أعلى من أي شخص آخر.

لأن المرأة التي تحبك حقًا في أسوأ حالاتك، يكون حبها مختلفًا حين تبلغ أفضل حالاتك. إنها ليست مجرد جزء من قصتك… بل ساعدت في كتابتها. لذا، تفضّل—امضِ قُدمًا—لكن تذكّر: بعض النساء لا يتكرّرن."
