@theaschenputtel โ โWhat did you mean about being free and not having others make your decisions?
Tell me what being free means, for I donโt think I can remember.โ

There was a young female painter in London, that was started to be talked about in Londonโs polite circles.
Somebody with a talent for colour and reproducing laces and silks on canvas. Most motherโs of debutantes were spending โ
@theaschenputtel โ And then the clocks chimed and Aurora placed a hand on her mouth and giggled nervously.
โDonโt tell anybody, itโs our secret. Otherwise they will send me to Thorne castle and I will sleep for many months.โ
She walked towards the painter and took her hand questioningly. โ
@ReginaGelida โ โI think I get so lonely, I sometimes imagine things. But letโs smile for now. Maybe you could come and visit me one of these days?โ
Elsa and Aurora made a charming picture of innocence, framed in the sunny window.
โIโm not sure what is real anymore, Elsa.โ

Nothing could surpass the boredom of a pre-debutante party, where all the girls were dressed in white.
Mothers and aunts sat on the sofas drinking tea and eating tiny cakes, while looking at the teenage girls that milled around with the look โ
@ReginaGelida Aurora stoped and wondered why she said that? Sometimes she said things and did things that made no sense to anybody, not even herself.
โIโm sorry, I donโt know why I said that. I have been poorly lately.โ
The Briar girl rallied around and even smiled at Elsa. โ
@BewareOfHounds โ Thankfully modest girls were not supposed to look at guests, so she lowered her lashes and asked politely.
โAre you one of papaโs business friends?โ
Aurora kept staring at her thorn ring and wishing the shadows stoped whispering.
@BewareOfHounds โ good sir, for I am afraid that we have not been introduced.โ
The blonde girl folded her hands in her lap, though the blue eyes flickered to the wall behind the guest.
She shivered, for the shadows on the wall told a different story. โ
@BewareOfHounds โ โOh.โ
A perfectly normally dressed gentleman was sitting next to the fireplace and drinking sherry, obviously waiting for Lord Briar.
The blonde girl gave a slight curtsy embarrassed.
โI apologise Sir. I was looking for my father.โ
@BewareOfHounds โ a song that chilled her bones, a cold song.
There was a light, not a light, something like green mist surrounding her fatherโs library door.
Aurora turned the handle and walked in. โ
@ReginaGelida โ Everybody knew that Lady Briarโs daughter was extremely delicate, fighting consumption some whispered.
But a good dowery made Aurora a good matrimonial prize. The two blonde girls leaned closer, as they whispered.
โAre you better now? I think I also have that problem.โ
@ReginaGelida โI donโt think I ever want to get married, not if I end up like them.โ
Aurora opened her fan to screen her face and smile at Elsa. They had been such good friends at finishing school, before some rumours started.
โIt has not been a good season, since I have been poorly.โ โ
@theaschenputtel โ In the middle of the room, mounted on a small pedestal was the most enormous blue dress.
It was diaphanous and embroidered with tiny fireflies and small roses that shone gold and pink.
A dress for a princess, but not for a young girl.
โWhat do you think of this?โ
@theaschenputtel โ The white doors painted with golden leaves shut and Aurora sighed, as if she put away a very heavy crown.
โWe can have an uninterrupted hour and those are few Ella. I truly envy your freedom.
When I said that I donโt get to chose anything, it is the truth.โ โ
@ReginaGelida โ and seemingly exchanging light kisses.
The matriarchs presiding over the afternoon tea languidly used their fans and gossiped.
โThatโs lady Elsa? She is rich and still unmarried.โ
Aurora scrunched her nose, as if she knew what the women were talking about. โ
