Don't ever give your winning ticket to an employer at a store to hold onto.

A Walmart cashier named Tameka Hall was arrested and fired in June 2026 after being caught on security footage stealing a customer's winning $2,700 Florida Lottery ticket.

On June 14, 2026, an elderly male customer tried to cash his winning ticket at a Walmart Neighborhood Market fuel station in DeLand, Florida. Hall, 40, told him the payout exceeded the store's on-site limit, handed him a receipt with instructions to claim the prize at a lottery office, but kept the actual winning ticket. Surveillance cameras captured her folding the ticket and placing it in her uniform vest pocket before leaving for the day. The customer realized he was missing the physical ticket, returned to the store, and management called the Volusia Sheriff's Office after reviewing the security tape.

When confronted by deputies the next morning, Hall claimed she pocketed it to give to a manager but forgot. Deputies found the ticket in the front seat of her personal vehicle, returned it to the owner, and booked Hall into the Volusia County Branch Jail on a felony charge of grand theft.

The 1970s 4th of July… when your parents would hand you a whole box of sparklers, Black Cats, and bottle rockets with nothing more than a casual “Don’t blow your hand off, now!” before heading back to the grill.
Sparklers for the toddlers (who immediately tried to write their names in the dark), potato salad that had been sitting out since 10 a.m., and the occasional bottle rocket that may or may not have been aimed anywhere near your cousin.
But the part that really gets me? The whole neighborhood dragging lawn chairs into the street, passing around cold drinks, and just sitting there together watching the sky. No phones. No schedules. Just laughter, the smell of gunpowder and charcoal, and that quiet feeling that you belonged to something bigger than yourself.
Those nights gave us more than we knew at the time — a little independence, a little trust from the grown-ups, and the kind of simple, shared joy that sticks with you for life. We learned how to be careful without being scared, how to look out for the little kids, and how good it feels when a whole street stops and looks up together.
As we head into another Independence Day, I’m grateful for those memories… and for the freedom that still lets us make new ones with the people we love.

In a targeted attack, three teenage girls were arrested in Citrus Heights, California, after security cameras caught them throwing a lit firecracker through a bedroom window. The fire destroyed a newly built baby nursery just days before the parents were expecting their newborn.

Police and fire crews responded to the fire. The lit firecracker landed on a mattress, completely destroying the room and the baby's belongings (cribs, blankets, and bottles).

The three juvenile girls were arrested on multiple felony charges, including aggravated arson, arson, burglary, and conspiracy.

The father stated the girls had previously targeted and bullied a teenager living there and resorted to the attack when they could not find her outside.

Women's volleyball is arguably one of the most athletic and action-packed sports to watch. The game requires incredible vertical leaps, lightning-fast reflexes, and total team synchronization, delivering high-intensity rallies without the constant stoppages or timeouts found in other mainstream sports.
