I conducted a series of live tests on Pharos to evaluate its viability in a standard Nigerian network environment (intermittent data connectivity and variable speeds). Instead of a high-level review, I focused on the practical end-user experience.
Key Testing Objectives:
Latency & Reliability: Monitored transaction confirmation speeds and failure rates under suboptimal bandwidth to see if the network remained stable or lagged.
Live Onboarding: Guided several new users through the initial setup and wallet interactions to identify specific UI/UX friction points where people typically get stuck.
Stress Testing: Performed repetitive actions and rapid transactions to determine if performance degrades during consistent use.
Utility Assessment: Evaluated the platform from the perspective of an average daily user rather than a developer, focusing on ease of use over technical architecture.
Primary Takeaway:
The system is functional and technically sound under real-world conditions, but there is a clear gap in onboarding clarity. While the "plumbing" works, the entry point needs to be more intuitive for non-technical users to ensure long-term retention.
