KIDNAPPING
The South African Police Service latest crime report showed that kidnappings have increased by 11% year-on-year to 4,577 cases – working out to roughly 51 kidnappings a day in South Africa.

India is holding its national elections in this month, which is the world's largest election with a total of 970 million people eligible to vote. This number exceeds the combined populations of the United States, the European Union, and Russia.

SA DEAL WITH ZIM
The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Senzo Mchunu, has signed an agreement where Zimbabwe will sell treated water to South Africa. The agreement will involve the supply of 15 million cubic meters of treated water per year through a 20km pipeline.

GRANT INCREASE
The Covid-19 social relief of distress grant in South Africa has been increased by R20, or 5.7%, to R370.
The grant is received by 9 million people.

The Pietermaritzburg Msunduzi Local Municipality's debt to Eskom and uMngeni Water -- among other creditors -- has skyrocketed to a staggering R1.9 billion.
The municipality is under administration.
