This year, we will be sharing experiences from our work in Yumbe, Uganda, where we collaborate with local civil society actors to put locally led development into practice. For us, sustainable change starts with communities defining their own priorities and leading their own solutions.

This week at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Azerbaijan, we had the honor of representing HADE and Uganda on the global stage for urban development.

Leading a working session on "Housing Her City: Safe and Inclusive Urban Spaces." Engaging with practitioners and young leaders to unpack what it really takes to design cities that work for women, girls, and youth. The room was full of lived experience, ideas, and practical solutions.

We Presented the Kampala case study of her city during the WUF Academy event. Sharing how grassroots action in Kampala and beyond is shaping safer, more inclusive cities through youth-led accountability and community-driven housing solutions.

The message was clear: when young people, especially young women, are given space, support, and opportunity, they become unstoppable forces for change. Our work from the grassroots in Uganda matters to the global urban agenda.

Thank you to UN-Habitat and the WUF Academy and Dreamtown for creating this platform, and to everyone who engaged, challenged, and collaborated with us in Baku. This is just the beginning.
