@Vitus_osst But let’s be clear, a latae setentiae excommunication is brought on by one’s own action. He didn’t excommunicate them. They excommunicated themselves.
@tradwife29 It basically depends on whether or not you want yourself and your children to be Catholic and in communion with Rome or Catholic and excommunicated. Not trying to be harsh, just honest.
@TARSRel0aded Apostolic succession has always been acknowledged by Rome in the orthodox tradition. And they un-anathematized each other a pretty long time ago.
@mfjlewis If they truly cared for the faithful, all SSPX chapels would begin Mass w/
"This Chapel remains affiliated with the SSPX & is now separated from the Catholic Church by excommunication. This excommunication extends to anyone who participates in this Mass."
Not expecting that...
@ChristopherHale My caller ID said Vatican City. I both freaked AND rushed to answer.
And yes, it was a real Call from the real Vatican! 😂

This is truly truly sad. We’ve lost a real talent and his daughters have now lost both parents. My heart goes out to them.

@PatrickWzHere@Monica55dzrh You do know that only tips under 25k a year are free of income tax, right? You’re also assuming that their household income does not fall into the phase out bracket.
Everyone should be guaranteed a just wage. Everyone. If you want to tip on top of that, go for it!
@Resiliente54@poperespecter1 So when someone dies, they’re just dead? Or do you believe the soul lives on?
And if the soul lives on, why can’t they continue to pray for you? In the story of the rich man & Lazarus, the rich man ‘prays’ for his family after death.
I ask friends to pray for me all the time.
@luxemiaa It’s a long established custom to not include young children at social events. I’m about to go all “old person” here, but when I was a child, no one had to be told to leave us at home!
@MUTUYIMANAEmma8@UcheMaryOkoli Yes, the celebration of Eucharist remits sin.
Except adultery, heresy, and murder - those always require the valid celebration of the sacrament of reconciliation. 😳
@UcheMaryOkoli A personal blessing is different from the general blessing given at dismissal from Mass.
And at a priest‘s ordination Mass, it’s actually a lovely tradition to go lineup to seek a personal blessing.
@UcheMaryOkoli Why do they (now) or how did it develop?
They do now because liturgical colors are prescribed by the church. LTP makes a nice eOrdo that works with outlook or Google calendars and gives not only the readings but also the memorial/feast day (as appropriate) and liturgical color.
Who might @Pontifex be thinking of?!
“In countries marked by serious social tensions, we cannot rule out the possibility that some leaders may consider armed conflict as an effective way of diverting attention from domestic problems & a cynical tool for managing difficulties.”
Imagine a scenario where @JDVance hears Church teaching?!
“The reduction of complex issues into simplistic categories — “me first,” “friend or foe,” “us or them” — facilitates decisions that are often irresponsible and undermine mutual trust among nations.” Leo 14, MH, 2026
“Regular assessments of the exercise of ministerial responsibilities should be encouraged, not as judgments on individuals, but as tools for learning and correction oriented toward mission.”
Now THAT is an exciting sentence, @DiscernDeacons !!
