Africa contributes the least to the climate crisis, yet bears some of its harshest consequences.

Today’s climate finance system is deeply unequal. While 93% of global climate finance supports mitigation efforts that largely benefit wealthier, high-emitting countries - only 5.3% goes to adaptation, the urgent priority for many African nations. Even worse, much of the finance reaching Africa comes as costly loans instead of grants, worsening debt burdens already intensified by climate shocks.

The 26th Executive Committee Meeting in Nairobi has officially concluded. Following intensive deliberations, the Committee has approved the 2026 Operational Plans, solidifying the organization's strategic direction for the year ahead.
