Africa contributes the least to the climate crisis, yet bears some of its harshest consequences.
Today’s climate finance system is deeply unequal. While 93% of global climate finance supports mitigation efforts that largely benefit wealthier, high-emitting countries - only 5.3% goes to adaptation, the urgent priority for many African nations. Even worse, much of the finance reaching Africa comes as costly loans instead of grants, worsening debt burdens already intensified by climate shocks.
This is not just a technical failure. It is a political one. Africa must have a central role in reshaping the global climate finance system. Access the full AFRODAD study - Political Economy of Climate Finance in Africa here:https://t.co/hWLpFFnkjB
