In this nationwide Danish survey (~19,000 patients), 12% underwent ventral hernia surgery solely for cosmetic or emotional reasons.

In 2025, the AFTERHERNIA project completed a nationwide ventral hernia survey with an 80% response rate. Several manuscripts are now under review, with more studies underway in 2026.

De fleste undersøgelser har fokuseret på gennemsnitspatienten, ikke specifikt på ældre. I vores projekt håber vi på også at kunne belyse, hvad der er den bedste løsning for den ældre patient.
