MassDOT, Caracas Construction, Northeast Paving, and Agawam all working on improvements to the Feeding Hills intersection earlier this week. Lots of construction going on in town, please drive slowly and safely through work zones.

Walnut Street Extension: Thank you to the Agawam DPW for the ADA accessible sidewalk, granite curb work, and bus stop pad. And thank you to the @pvta for the new shelter and bench...looks great!
Walnut and River Streets will be closed to all but local traffic the rest of today and tomorrow morning starting at 6:30am for paving. Work is anticipated to be completed before noon tomorrow. Please plan accordingly. Thank you.
Yup, we are very very busy at the moment...see the article that starts at the bottom of the front page. This doesn’t include our local road and sidewalk work, stormwater, planning/conservation commission reviews, assisting other departments and residents/businesses, etc.
The DPW is installing ADA sidewalk & curb cuts on the west side of Walnut Street Ext. Additional improvements are planned on the east side of WSE. Agawam is working with PVTA to bring 2 new bus stops w/shelters at this location in anticipation of the upcoming bridge project.
The Agawam Engineering Division is performing a traffic study with the PVPC at the intersections of Barry/Pine and Barry/South West Street. Agawam secured free technical assistance for these intersections this year.
All states Asphalt inc is out reclaiming Haskell, Emerson and Wright streets today. Paving next week. Engineering is out providing grade stakes for the new roadway.
The DPW is pouring a new ADA compliant crosswalk today at the intersection of Walnut and Maple. Walnut Street will have ADA compliant sidewalks later this year as part of the proposed road reconstruction work.
Sealcoating, Inc. has started Agawam’s crack sealing work today. Here they are on Suffield Street. Other streets to be crack sealed this year: Hendom, Silver Lake, Poplar, Franklin, North Westfield (part.), South Westfield (part.), Springfield (part.).
