After spending the past few days studying the upcoming ITLG mechanism, this is how I would explain it.

There will essentially be three states of ITLG:

1. ITLG in the App — Mined ITLG

This is the ITLG that everyone is currently mining and that is displayed inside the InterLink app.

It represents users’ accumulated mining balance before it moves on-chain. This ITLG will go through the verification process, with the goal of completing verification before Open Mainnet launches next year.

2. On-Chain ITLG — Transferable ITLG

Once a user successfully completes KYC Level 1 and the required migration process, eligible ITLG can move on-chain.

At this stage, ITLG becomes transferable, meaning users can send and receive it.

The easiest way to understand its role is that on-chain ITLG is the state before vITLG.

From here, holders essentially have two choices:

• Hold their on-chain ITLG and later convert it into vITLG through the staking mechanism. By doing so, they can participate in ITL staking rewards while still maintaining exposure to the future ITLG ecosystem and potential ITLG listing.
• Transfer or sell their on-chain ITLG to someone else who wants to gain earlier exposure to ITLG and participate in the ecosystem.

This creates a market-driven layer before ITLG reaches its final state.

3. vITLG — Final Verified/Staking State

vITLG represents the final state of ITLG within this mechanism.

Once ITLG is converted into vITLG, vITLG will remain non-transferable until ITLG listing. The main reason is to prevent the same ITLG from being transferred between wallets and repeatedly used to access staking benefits.

A vITLG holder therefore receives two forms of optionality: they can use their vITLG position to participate in ITL staking, while at the same time retaining their position for the future ITLG listing and other utilities that may become available across the InterLink ecosystem.

So, in simple terms, the lifecycle can be understood as:

Mined ITLG in App → Verified & Migrated → On-Chain ITLG → vITLG

Each stage serves a different purpose: the first represents mining and verification, the second introduces ownership and transferability, and the third creates the final staking and ecosystem state.

After spending several days studying the mechanism, I believe this structure creates a good balance between liquidity, staking utility, verification, and long-term ITLG ownership, while preventing the staking system from being abused.
