ㅤ“Great. I'll see you then? Commander just paged me.”
ㅤ[ He holds up a small, beeping device. He shrugs, slapping his hands on his knees as he gets up with a grunt. ]
“free on saturday… i think. hopefully nothin’ happens then.”
trying hard to remember his schedule.
“if y’wanna buy me a new stove, be my guest. i definitely won’t complain.”
ㅤ“Whenever you can works.”
ㅤ[ A casual shrug. ]
ㅤ“Listen man, I've been through a lot growing up. I just like givin', alright? Don't worry too much about it.”
“just jokin’….but yeah! i do get what y’mean. ‘s why i don’t use em.”
he looks slightly shocked.
“you would? well, i’m might whip somethin’ up when i can… give me a date ‘n i’ll figure somethin’ out.”
ㅤ“Hey, you get what I mean.”
ㅤ[ He wears a genuine smile, crow's feet at the edges of his eyes. ]
ㅤ“No, really, it's fine. If you really insist, I could taste some of the cooking of yours.”
“safety violations when we work at the foundation…”
giggling ;; he thinks hes sooo funny.
“you’re serious? i need t’ give you somethin’ or it wouldn’t sit right with me!
ㅤ“No worries about that. Also, that's kinda... safety violations? It'll be easy to reason with some higher ups to get you some new stuff.”
ㅤ[ A shrug. ]
ㅤ“Also, I am kinda loaded. No need to pay me back.”
“we do… just shitty ones. have t’ light ‘em yourself and it’s such a chore.”
rolling his eyes.
“you must be loaded it y’can just offer t’ buy a stove — but thanks, I’d appreciate that. and i’ll pay y’bsck.”
ㅤ“There aren't any in your barracks?”
ㅤ[ Huh. First time he's hearing of it. ]
ㅤ“...'m sure they'll let you buy a new one? I'll get it for you, not a big deal to my bank account.”
ㅤ“Very nice guy. Got me through most of life.”
ㅤ[ Another shrug. There's a warm smile on his face now. ]
ㅤ“Ooh, yeah, that stuff is amazing. Should make some later, bring some tomorrow.”
“i’ve got to meet him, then. seems like a nice guy.”
grinning under the mask.
“i could really go for some chocolate strawberries right now… the dried stuff ain’t cuttin’ it.”
ㅤ“I'll make a little feast then. My husband loves chocolate, actually. I'm more of a strawberries guy myself.
ㅤ[ He actually... laughs out loud, at that one. He sighs softly. ]
ㅤ“Okay, okay, yeah. Sometimes human flesh.”
“surprise me, chocolate anythin’ would be alright.”
grinning, he’s horrifically excited.
“eat what they give us and you’d be clawin’ for anythin’ better too…”
ㅤ“Nah, 've got too much money than I know what to do with. What're you requesting?”
[ Leaning back, crossing his arms. He raises a brow in question. ]
“please do. heard that you were a phenomenal baker.”
pulling his mask back down ;; smoothing the fabric over with his hands.
“do y’take requests? ‘ve got the money.”
“i mean i can see the appeal, y’know the whole coppery tang ‘n all.”
face scrunched in thought ; he takes another sip of coffee.
“that’s t’ be expected i guess, the taste might be a bit abrasive t’ some.”
ㅤ"Weirdly developed a taste for it.”
ㅤ[ A shrug. Crow's feet appear from the corner of his eyes. ]
ㅤ“Then again, my husband doesn't really appreciate blood everywhere. Especially tasting it.”
“i’d call that badass — ‘s really nothin’ compared to the stuff we deal with.”
a small half-smile, the corners of his eyes crinkling.
“though that probably wouldn’t taste good, y’know the blood ‘n stuff.”
ㅤ“'f you call mauling enemy forces by the teeth 'good', I don't know what this world's come to.”
ㅤ[ There's a quiet rasp of his throat that sounded suspiciously like the beginnings of a laugh. He's comfortable, surprisingly. ]
“infamous? wouldn’t say that, heard that you’ve done a lot of good.”
he sighs, nodding in agreement.
“tirin’s an understatement. ‘ve had my fair share of titles like that.. “
he raises a brow slightly, did he say something?
he laughs, “hopefully it’s not for anythin’ stupid — ”
“ oh i… didn’t catch your name, forgot t’ ask.”
ㅤ[ It was like a punch to the gut. He had a physical reaction one he quickly masked behind a cool demeanor. ]
ㅤ“I see. I've heard of you a couple times.”
“fair — those amnestics really pack a punch.”
he lifts his mask and takes a careful sip of his coffee. it’s bitter, just as he likes.
“‘s scott, or blackbird if that rings any bells.”
