"It's just a statistical point that nearly all sex offenders are men. Women are a victim of a lot of those crimes. That is why we have single sex spaces. These were all facts that were extremely well known before we started pretending that some men are women." Helen Joyce

LGB people are being told that the Draft Conversion Practices Bill speaks for us. It does not.
We oppose coercion and cruelty. We also oppose a bill that could make it harder for children who may grow up lesbian, gay or bisexual to be heard and supported.

@jbvconnor For many, a fixed trans identity provides a rigid psychological structure that hides underlying uncertainty and doubt about who they are and where they fit in. They may believe that a trans identity is the solution to their underlying insecurities. It may also create an idealised avatar that promises, in effect: “If only I’d been born differently, I’d be much happier with myself and free of self-hatred.” Any invitation to think or explore the nature of this belief system can be experienced as a threat, causing psychological pain. The young person’s own doubts and confusion may be disowned and attributed to therapists or parents.
Good therapy involves two stages: first, understanding the way the individual sees the world; then, helping them gain enough distance from that identification to become interested in other perspectives and ways of thinking about themselves. This means bringing their beliefs and the function they serve into view. The affirmation model can bypass this process by supporting the young person unreservedly without first bringing those beliefs and their function into view, or helping them consider other perspectives. In this way, there can be a collusion between the patient and the clinician. What remains unexamined is that the capacity to tolerate psychological turbulence is essential for psychological development.
Therapeutic work requires experienced therapists who can support the individual over time, often working uncomfortably between two risks: on the one hand, pushing the patient to face reality in a way that may rupture the therapeutic relationship; on the other, avoiding the difficulty by becoming collusive and ineffective.
In effect, the affirmation model exchanges short-term relief from doubt, confusion and uncertainty for security, leading to a psychic retreat from developmental opportunities. In this way, it protects both the patient and the clinician from the psychic pain and turbulence involved in exploring and thinking things through. Another problem is that these psychic defences flatten the capacity to experience pleasure as well as pain. Tragically, short-term solutions to psychic pain can have hidden long-term consequences.
A symptom of this problem is clinical teams’ proud boasts that they knew the patient should transition because the young person was so certain. These boasts treat the young person’s certainty as a sign of health, rather than a red flag that they may be caught in a rigid belief system that exchanges thought for certainty.

“At the end of the day, your daughter is not the entire world.”
These words were spoken by a lawyer who worked on my friend @AlyashchenkoX ‘s case in 2024. Her daughter had been taken by CPS that year after accusations that she was abusive because she did not affirm her daughter’s male identity.
Exactly a year before that, DCF had become involved in our lives following a complaint accusing me of abuse because I did not affirm Ilene’s male identity. The allegations were eventually dropped, but by then, our connection was lost.
I didn’t know then that a year later, in October 2024, I would lose Ilene forever. She overdosed on Benadryl while on testosterone.
Today, I visited Ilene’s grave with my son. We brought her lots of flowers. It was raining harder than forecast, as if the sky were crying with me. As I stood there, looking at her grave, I thought about those words again.
“At the end of the day, your daughter is not the entire world.”
Three years ago Ilene became estranged from me, I lost my entire world. Exactly two years ago I lost her forever, I lost my entire universe.
International Day of the Girl Child, But What Is There to Celebrate for Afghan Girls?
Every day, I receive heartbreaking messages from inside Afghanistan about girls facing forced marriage, child marriage, mental health struggles, and other forms of suffering. Meanwhile, millions of girls are denied their fundamental right to education, freedom, and the opportunity to build their own futures.
For Afghan girls, this is not just a day of celebration. It is a reminder of a continuing injustice.
I call on the United Nations and the international community to stop treating engagement with the Taliban as progress while Afghan girls remain excluded from classrooms.
Dialogue must bring real change, accountability, and the restoration of fundamental rights.

Four patients moved off a women's ward for inappropriate behaviour in 18 months.
@WomensRightsNet's FOI report found 6,539 rapes and sexual assaults reported in UK hospitals in under four years. 1,021 happened on wards. Only 4.1% led to a charge.

@cow_says_what Det är inte tänkt att vi ska ”komma överens”. Det är tänkt att vi ska lyda. Som det heter i England: ”Trans women are women - no debate!”
This is pushed by mental health professionals who should (and do), know better.
Everyone and his dog has fallen down the 'trans-suicide' rabbit hole.
The lie that 'trans' people (especially children), will kill themselves if they don't get every single thing they demand, has been the greatest and most successful disinformation campaign in human history.
Yet it was so easily refutable!
