“Severe” viewing potential sounds incredibly threatening.

HERE WE GO! A "Severe" G4 geomagnetic storm is in the forecast Thursday night. This is quite the rare event and has at least a shot at reaching G5 levels. These events are like snowflakes, no two are the same. With that in mind, the below map is a loose representation of what G4 storms are capable of from a viewing perspective.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but when people from a marginalized group tell you somebody is bad news, you should listen. Even if that person seems cool/legit/visionary to you. Marginalized people have finely tuned their spidey senses through years of abuse and battle.

This is pretty much why I left my role in IR for a cybersecurity engineering role. Having everything focused around metrics and “improving the numbers” sucked the last bit of joy I was getting from my job.

I see this more and more as I hire senior IR people. Folks spend 2-4 years in an ostensible IR position but it’s become such a ticket / metrics farm they’ve had no room to grow, shadow, or develop outside an incredibly strict playbook. This doesn’t do anyone any favors… 🥲
