The SCB MCH fire tragedy was just waiting to happen. Once the pride of the state, SCB has now been reduced to a pathetic, crumbling edifice. Severe shortage of doctors and staff, degradation of infrastructure and services have pushed it into collapse. Its current state is worse than the worn out CHCs/PHCs in the most backward regions.
This is the direct result of sheer incompetence and apathy of the state health administration, the health secretary and hospital superintendent.
Making junior officials scapegoats is easy. The health secretary and hospital superintendent should be made accountable and responsibility fixed. Action is needed.
