Soybean is a high-value and profitable crop. The economic advantage of soybean farming is derived from the commercial and industrial utilization of both its sub-products, meal and oil, which, respectively, account for about 66% and 33% of the crop’s economic value.
Soy oil and soy meal are consumed worldwide as food and animal feedstuff respectively. Soy meal accounts for over 60% of world output of vegetable and animal meals and occupies a prominent position among protein feedstuffs used in the production of feed concentrates, while soybean oil is the single most important vegetable oil, accounting for 20% of global vegetable oil production.
Breed improvement is important for obtaining improved and high yielding pig breeds. The main purpose of breed improvement is to introduce a positive characteristic into a local breed. For example, by crossbreeding an indigenous sow with an exotic boar; the offspring is likely to inherit the body shape and good growth rate from its father and the tolerance to environmental stress from its mother

The Cocoa and Coffee Farmers Alliance Association of Africa has issued a warning, stating that if governments, chocolate manufacturers, and multinational corporations do not address the growing difficulties facing cocoa farmers throughout West Africa, global cocoa prices might rise above $ 10,000 per tonne once more.
The warning comes ahead of the Cocoa and Coffee Fiesta, which is set to take place in Nigeria on October 7 and 8, 2026, where industry participants are slated to talk about the future of cocoa and coffee production in Africa in light of mounting worries about supply shortages, climate change, and a reduction in young people's involvement in agriculture.
Adeola Adegoke, Global President of COCEFAA, said in a statement that while multinational food companies are increasing their investments in cell-cultured and lab-grown cocoa substitutes, millions of smallholder farmers who provide the majority of the world's cocoa still struggle with issues like crop diseases, aging farms, low yields, and inadequate funding.
Pork processing involves the slaughtering of pigs and modification of pig meat into different products and forms for human consumption and for industrial application. A modern pork processing system is made up of two key parts: 1. Pig Slaughter Line 2. Carcass Finishing. Each of these two key parts contain several sub-systems which all work together to accomplish the end product of the overall system.
Handling of pork before they are slaughtered in the pork processing facility is essential for producing high quality pork. In meat processing generally, the meat quality is determined more by the animal handling system. This system consists of stables and runways which essentially manages and guides the live pigs with quality animal handling procedures towards the point of slaughtering
McKinsey & Company analysis of dozens of marketing budgets reveals that 70% to 90% of ad spend goes to advertising and retail promotions that hit consumers at the consider and buy stages. Yet consumers are often influenced more during the evaluate and enjoy-advocate-bond stages.
In many categories the single most powerful impetus to buy is someone else’s advocacy. Yet many marketers focus on media spend (principally advertising) rather than on driving advocacy. The coolest banner ads, best search buys, and hottest viral videos may win consideration for a brand, but if the product gets weak reviews—or worse, isn’t even discussed online—it’s unlikely to survive the winnowing process which leads to purchase and referrals to more potential customers
Do you need funding for your agribusiness? Then you should consider NIRSAL.
NIRSAL (Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending) provides funding to the Nigerian Agriculture Sector through several tools and services
The core service offered by NIRSAL is the Credit Risk Guarantee (CRG). The CRG is a tool designed to protect financiers and investors from potential losses in a finance or credit transaction. Through a risk-sharing arrangement, NIRSAL pays back the lender or investor for principal and accrued interest up to a predetermined CRG rate
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has issued a warning that Nigeria's increasing usage of stablecoins denominated in US dollars may reduce demand for the naira and compromise the efficacy of the nation's monetary policy framework.
The IMF noted in a publication titled "Stablecoins in Nigeria: A Growing Cross-Border Channel" that the widespread usage of stablecoins poses dangers to monetary sovereignty, especially as more individuals and businesses turn to digital dollar-linked assets for savings and transactions.
The warning comes as Nigeria continues to be one of the world's top cryptocurrency markets. Nigeria ranked second globally on Chainalysis's 2024 Global Crypto Adoption Index and sixth in 2025 after receiving over $59 billion in inflows of crypto-assets between July 2023 and June 2024. Additionally, since 2019, Nigeria has contributed roughly 60% of stablecoin inflows into sub-Saharan Africa.
Yorkshire Pig Breeds are white, long body with erect ears, they make good mothers and have a live weight for a mature male 300kg to 450kg and female 250kg to 350 kg. They have high production output, with a litter size of 12, weaning percentage greater than 70%, and 7 pairs of teats. They can also be used for upgrading local breeds
The consumption of pork is on the increase. According to the USDA, over 100 million metric tons of pork were consumed worldwide in 2025. Pork can also become a very popular meat in Nigeria too. Pork has a very good value chain because many other products can be produced from pork making it a good source of income for farmers and a good medium for solving the unemployment problem in Nigeria. Some of the products that are derived from pork are lard, sausages, ham, bacon etc
In order for pig farming to reach its potential in Nigeria, farmers and entrepreneurs need to embrace the industrial processing of pork. This would allow the maximum, efficient and economic utilization of all the produce derived from pig farming. A lot of products like sausages, lard, leather etc. can be gotten from pork processing
In May 2026, Nigeria's headline inflation rate increased to 15.93%, the third consecutive monthly increase in the country's annual inflation rate. The organized private sector blamed the worsening inflation to import bottlenecks, rising energy costs, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, and insecurity.
Food and non-alcoholic drinks continued to contribute the most to headline inflation, accounting for 6.38% of the annual inflation rate, according to an analysis of the inflation basket. Transportation contributed 1.70%, housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels gave 1.34%, and accommodations and restaurants contributed 2.06%.
Nigerians will pay significantly less for food if the insecurity in the country's farming communities is eliminated. And with the signing of the peace deal between Iran and US, fuel price should go down in the coming weeks which will drop transportation costs
Lard is an animal fat and is the by-product of the pig farming and pork processing industry. Its production is dependent upon the production of pork. Lard is obtained from pork fat by rendering the fat at high temperature in either open or closed kettles. Pork fat, however, does not represent a homogeneous material. Lard is extensively used in making soaps, vegetable cooking oils, salad oils, margarine and dressings.
Data obtained from the Central Bank of Nigerias Q4 2025 Statistical Bulletin shows that Nigeria’s non-oil exports rose to $9.32bn in 2025, representing a 24.93% increase from the $7.46bn recorded in 2024, as the country intensified efforts to diversify export earnings and capture greater value from informal trade activities across the economy. The commodities that led this growth are cocoa products, sesame seeds, cashew nuts, shea butter, ginger, hibiscus flower, rubber, fertilizers, cement, clinker and LNG (liquefied natural gas).
The most common pig breeds for commercial pig farming in Nigeria are the Yorkshire, Landrace, Hampshire, Duroc breeds and their crosses. These breeds produce lean meat combined with efficient feed conversion (3 kg of good feed is needed to produce 1 kg of pork). Compared to local pig breeds, these commercial breeds have good resistance to diseases and suffer less from hot weather and low quality feed.
Good Morning team @PBATMediaCentre myself and my brother @iamderinolar went through this yesterday and it’s quite amazing putting those together but the issue is, can this be communicated in LOCAL LANGUAGE other than English and what is the plan to take this gospel to the street!
“We found that there is an increase in absorption of carbon dioxide, but not because the plants adapted themselves and raised the temperature, but because of other factors,” lead researcher Professor José M. Grünzweig of the Institute of Plant Sciences and Genetics in Agriculture at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem reported. He led a team of researchers from China, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Australia, Finland and Russia. The findings were recently published in the peer-reviewed journal One Earth.
Scientists cautioned that the most popular assumptions in climate forecasting may be overlooking a crucial factor influencing how ecosystems absorb carbon dioxide, which might have consequences for estimating how much natural vegetation can reduce global warming.
As scientists have long predicted, plants have absorbed more carbon dioxide in recent decades, but not primarily because they have adapted photosynthesis to greater temperatures.
An Israeli scientist discovered that when estimating how much carbon dioxide ecosystems can remove from the atmosphere, climate models may need to focus more on how plants control water consumption and increase their leaf cover rather than mostly on temperature responses.
