Earlier this month, we piloted our Biodiversity in Soil workshop over two interactive sessions at Dunlace Public School (@TDSB_DunlacePS) where students learned about biodiversity and its importance in soil health and growing nutrient-rich crops. 🌱
In this hands-on workshop, students became environmental scientists conducting soil biodiversity assessments on local soil samples using microscope and checklist tools. From this scientific investigation, students discovered organisms such as millipedes, mites, spiders, springtails, and more!

We are pleased to share that in April, AgScape delivered 134 workshops across 24 school boards, in addition to 5 home schools, 1 independent school, and 3 private schools with our Teacher Ambassador Program (TAP).
Last month, we were able to reach over 3,000 students from Kenora to Renfrew County to Essex County through TAP, which connects skilled educators with Ontario classrooms to enhance agriculture and food literacy with free, curriculum-linked workshops.

On May 13 and 14, AgScape hosted a two-day thinkAG Career Competition at St. John Henry Newman Catholic Secondary School in Hamilton where 800 grades 7-8 students had the chance to learn about Ontario’s agriculture and food system from industry experts and discover rewarding careers in this thriving sector.

On May 7, 2026, AgScape hosted its 2026 Annual General Meeting at The Arboretum at the University of Guelph. The theme for this year’s AGM, “Rooted in the Past, Growing into Tomorrow,” guided the meeting as we honoured our 35th anniversary milestone and looked towards the thriving future of agriculture and food education in Ontario.
