We asked HRs about the funniest and most unexpected reasons employees have given for leaving their jobs.
From following a colleague out to relocating for church responsibilities and even leaving because of a promotion issue, some resignation stories really catch us off guard.
As a company grows, the founder faces a difficult question: what should I continue to own personally, and what must I allow other people to lead?

Goodness and leadership are not the same assignment
When my team member described a good person, she used words such as dependable and trustworthy. Those qualities also belong in any description of a good leader. If people cannot trust your word, motives or judgment, your leadership will eventually become expensive for everyone around you.

Prayerlessness does impoverish the Christian life because it rejects communion and dependence on God. But our public argument for faith should not be built on contempt for societies or people who do not share it.

I have had interesting conversations with atheists and agnostics who say they believe only in science, by which they usually mean that they accept only what can be observed, tested or proved. I respect the desire for evidence. Christians should not be afraid of it, and we should never treat honest investigation as rebellion against God. If something is true, careful examination should not destroy it.

If you believe in yourself, you will take action.
You will do better, and you will demand better.
If you believe in yourself, you will expect nothing less.
What you expect from life is always a reflection of what you believe about yourself.

$630m mobilised across 23 Nigerian businesses is significant. But what interests me just as much is what happens after the capital comes in.
Growth puts pressure on everything underneath a business: how it pays people, manages compliance, keeps financial records, builds its team, and develops processes that can survive the next stage of scale.
And access to capital really matters. But building businesses that are operationally ready to deploy that capital, grow sustainably, and compete beyond Nigeria matters just as much.
Hopefully, we also continue to broaden what we consider export businesses — beyond physical goods to services, technology and software companies that can build in Nigeria and earn globally.
