FIFA confirm Omar Abdulkadir Artan can’t officiate at the World Cup after being denied entry into the United States.
The Somali referee is one of Africa’s most respected officials. Somalia's Ministry of Youth and Sports say Artan travelled with a valid US visa.
Yet Somalia is on a travel ban list introduced by President Trump’s administration.
🗣️ “FIFA is not involved in host country immigration processes, including visa adjudications, and has been informed by authorities that Mr Artan's status will not be changed at present.
“In line with previous FIFA events, a host government ultimately determines who receives a visa and who is admitted into their country.”
ODM, like all other political parties in Kenya, is NOT a private, personal or family property.
ODM is a PUBLIC entity FUNDED by the PUBLIC through the POLITICAL PARTIES FUND and members’ contributions.
ODM was NOT Raila Odinga’s private property.
Members of Raila Odinga’s family do not own ODM and cannot and must NOT have any special rights, privileges or influence over the affairs of the party.
Those arguing that Raila’s widow, his sister and/or children, including adopted ones, should have special privileges in ODM are trying to PERSONALIZE public institutions and are suffering from nightmares of the one party era.
Raila Odinga was a true champion of democracy. A child of independence, he endured decades of struggle and sacrifice for the broader cause of freedom and self-governance in Kenya. Time and again, I personally saw him put the interests of his country ahead of his own ambitions. Like few other leaders anywhere, he was willing to choose the path of peaceful reconciliation without compromising his core values. Through his life, Raila Odinga set an example not just for Kenyans, but across Africa and around the world. I know he will be missed. Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family and to the people of Kenya.
@WelBeast This is @SportingCP player. Draw out your @kaihavertz29 mate. Stop embarassing Arsenal more astronomically after Sunday's celebration for draw against an average city side at emirates. This inferiority complex mentality is a virus spread to fans also.
How is the highest ranked Englishman in the world (8) not making on the list of the Team of the year on England soil. The metric is off. Guess it's never cold at the top for Cole Palmer @PFA#BallonDor
Was there no way god could have saved the world without using hired goons to beat up his son mercilessly and nailing him on crossed timber until he kicked the famous bucket?
2010 constitution was hailed as a game changer, a seismic change in governance, and the catapult to a new enlightened and progressive era. If we put a side the sloganeering rhetoric and chew the bitter empirical data, what is the truth/verdict 15 years later?
1. The executive is as powerful (if not more powerful) as former President Moi. The imperial president is a live, stronger, and kicking.
2. Parliament is more corrupt and dead, defacto. No meaningful debates/legislation happens in both houses. Senators debate more in the studios of Citizen tv than on the floor of the House. KANU's Parliament was more competent, effective, more progressive, and less corrupt.
3. Kenya is more corrupt under the 2010 constitution than under the old constitution. More public funds were looted, btw 2010 to 2025, than btw 1963 to 2011.
4. The judiciary is more corrupt and totally unaccountable. The old constitutional order and the KANU judiciary were much better, more competent, and less corrupt than the Martha Koome led judiciary. FACT!
5. Constitutional commissions exist only in name.
6. The Supreme Court declared that the "values and principles of governance under Article 10" of the constitution are useless and not worth the paper its written on.
7. Only in the Bill of Rights are Kenyans seeing a positive change under the 2010 constitution.
8. Conclusion: The 2010 constitution is good on paper but almost worthless in reality. It was killed by a conspiracy between the executive, parliament, and judiciary. This trinity of tyrants will not allow Kenyans to enjoy the fruits of the 2010 constitution. And the people of Kenya (because of tribal loyalties, abject poverty, and general stupidities/ng'ombeness) are not conscious enough to mitigate the situation and bring meaningful change that will enforce and implement the 2010 constitution.
Rigathi Gachagua is out here whining that Raila has neglected the Gusii community because none of the four CS posts went to them. Seriously? Since when did a government job become a community gift basket? Let’s stop fooling ourselves, it’s individuals who get jobs, not entire clans, not villages, not ethnic blocks. Even if your own blood brother is appointed a Cabinet Secretary, you might still remain jobless and broke. That’s just reality.
This kind of tribal lamentation is exactly why we need a fresh way of thinking in the political space. The idea that one appointment equals community development is broken and outdated. It’s political superstition, the illusion that personal gain equals communal progress. And this is why I always say the KANU orphans have poisoned minds. We still don’t fully understand what Moi did to them during his reign, but one thing is clear that he raised a generation of politicians who think appointments are more important than ideas. A generation that fears innovation, avoids enterprise, and can’t build anything unless it’s handed to them.
Just look at Rigathi himself....He’s a billionaire, yet he owns no single industry. He hasn’t built a factory, launched a brand, or created anything of long-term value. All he knows is tenders and government supplies.
"Africa Is No Longer Waiting To Be Invited To The Table, Africa Is Building Its Own Table" ~ Sierra Leone President Bio Calls for Unity and Vision
"Africa is no longer waiting to be invited to the table Africa is building its own table. Imagine an Africa without borders. An Africa where our youths no longer risk their lives crossing seas and deserts for a better future abroad. Imagine an Africa where our natural resources benefit the people, not just a few individuals. This is not a distant dream the foundations are already being laid through the African Free Trade Area. The question is not whether this is possible, but whether we are ready to achieve it."
President Julius Maada Bio speaking at the opening ceremony of the 3rd Africa High-level Forum on South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development held in Freetown.
