We, the APC stakeholders in Kano, made sure our supporters were fully mobilised and present in numbers to clear all doubts about where the political momentum lies.

This is particularly important for our Obidient friends who may believe that having Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso as Mr. Peter Obi’s running mate would somehow change the political equation in Kano.

What an electrifying moment today at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, as we welcomed a political tsunami into the All Progressives Congress (APC)!

I joined thousands of party faithful and supporters to receive former Kano State Governor and former Senator representing Kano South, Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya (Mai Al-Ummah), alongside Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga, associates of Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, and over 100,000 defectors from various political parties into our great party.

The sheer size, enthusiasm and energy of the gathering were unmistakable: the APC is expanding, consolidating and growing stronger in Kano.

This is more than a rally. It is a powerful statement about where the political momentum is heading ahead of 2027.

The message from Kano is loud and clear:

I represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the Flag-Off of the Construction of Collector Road CO1 in the Institution and Research District, from the Nile University area to Ring Road III, held at Nile University, Abuja.

This important project underscores the Renewed Hope Administration's commitment to building critical infrastructure that supports education, research, innovation, and economic growth. The road will improve connectivity within Abuja's Institution and Research District, providing easier access for students, academics, legal practitioners, researchers, and residents while linking the area seamlessly to Ring Road III and the wider city.

The project also builds on the successful completion of the first phase of the corridor connecting the Body of Benchers, Nile University, and Baze University, which will soon be commissioned as part of activities marking three years of the Renewed Hope Administration.

As President Tinubu noted, infrastructure remains the foundation of national development. By investing in roads that connect centres of learning, justice, and innovation, we are laying the groundwork for a knowledge-driven economy and a more prosperous future for all Nigerians.

I also commended the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, CON, for his outstanding commitment to transforming Abuja through impactful infrastructure delivery, as well as the entire FCTA team for their dedication to service.

Today, as we commemorate Workers’ Day, I extend my warmest felicitations to all Nigerian workers across the public and private sectors, men and women whose daily sacrifices, commitment, and patriotism continue to sustain the engine of our nation’s growth and development.

This day is a fitting moment to recognize and deeply appreciate your resilience, perseverance, and understanding, especially in the face of evolving economic realities.

Your steadfast dedication, even in challenging times, reflects the true Nigerian spirit, strong, hopeful, and forward-looking.

Nigeria stands today because of your labour, your discipline, and your unwavering belief in a better tomorrow.

PRESS STATEMENT

APC EXTENDS ELECTRONIC MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION TO FEBRUARY 8, ADJUSTS CONGRESSES AND NATIONAL CONVENTION DATES

At its 183rd meeting, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held on Friday, 30th January 2026, at the Party’s National Secretariat, Abuja, adopted the following resolutions:

1. The electronic membership registration exercise has been extended from 31st January 2026 to 8th February 2026, following requests from Party stakeholders. This extension is to enable more supporters and members to register and validate their membership.

2. Ward Congresses will hold on Wednesday, 18th February 2026, while the National Convention is now scheduled to be held on 27th–28th March 2026.

Osun State , Ekiti State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are excluded from scheduled Congresses due to upcoming elections, while Rivers State is excluded due to the subsisting tenure the current executive committees of the Party in the State. 

3. The National Convention Planning Committee was duly constituted.

Further details on the adjusted Congress and National Convention timetable and schedule of activities, and composition of the National Convention Planning Committee will be announced in due course.

‘Utterly baseless’ — APC rejects claims of replacing Shettima as Tinubu’s 2027 running mate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports suggesting that Kashim Shettima, the vice-president, could be replaced as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 general election.

A statement issued on Monday by Felix Morka, national publicity secretary, described the reports as “speculative, untrue and utterly baseless”.

The party said the speculation escalated recently with the circulation of names of individuals touted as possible replacements.

Yesterday’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, was a resounding success. All items on the agenda were exhaustively deliberated upon, and the businesses of the day were concluded smoothly in an atmosphere of unity, purpose and renewed commitment to our great party.

I deeply appreciate our father and the father of the nation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for honouring the meeting with his presence and for the reassuring words of hope, vision and encouragement he shared with Nigerians. His leadership continues to inspire confidence in the present and the future of our nation.

I also commend members of the National Working Committee for their steadfastness, discipline and unwavering dedication to the ideals of our party. My appreciation equally goes to our governors and members of the National Assembly for their consistent support, as well as the state and local government executive committees for their tireless efforts in sustaining and strengthening our party structures nationwide.
Together, we remain united, focused and determined to ensure that our great party continues to be the party to beat in all ramifications.

Today, at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, I had the honour of presenting the Certificate of Return to our Osun State governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

The occasion was witnessed by the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru; National Organising Secretary, His Excellency Alhaji Sulaiman M Argungu and Nze Chidi Duru, Deputy National Organising Secretary.

It is particularly heartwarming that Asiwaju Oyebamiji emerged by consensus. This speaks to unity, maturity, and teamwork; values that must be sustained. Leadership is collective, even though the glory eventually rests on one shoulder. Working with the entire family is not optional; it is essential.

For the past three years, Osun State has been defined more by optics and theatrics than by tangible development. Governance has too often appeared as performance, with little in terms of concrete projects or enduring impact that the people can truly point to.

Osun deserves far more than symbolism. Our people deserve visible development, functional infrastructure, economic opportunities, and purposeful leadership that understands governance as serious business, not entertainment.

With the APC, Osun is set for a clear shift in direction. From the moment we secure victory at the polls next year, the state will begin to witness real, measurable progress; projects that can be seen, touched, commissioned, and sustained. Roads, schools, healthcare facilities, economic initiatives, and people-centred policies will take centre stage.

This will mark the beginning of a new era of competence, focus, and delivery. An era where leadership is judged not by dance steps, but by results. An era where government works, and works for the people.

Osun was the only South-West state the President lost in the last general election. That must not happen again. This time, we are determined to win convincingly for our candidate in Osun and for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Earlier today I had a tête-à-tête with the National Chairman of our dear party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, in Abuja.

It is always a delight to exchange ideas with Prof. Nentawe and discuss strategic synergies for the good and development of the Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam federal constituency.

I also seized the opportunity to congratulate him on his conferment with the Tiv traditional chieftaincy title of Zegembar-u-Tiv.
