With growing development and the need and necessity for archaeologists in this current day and age, it is harrowing, disgraceful and disrespectful to such a multidisciplinary, exemplary and useful subject and sector, and the arts that it is a part of.
Sheffield need a rethink.
@UniShefArch Catastrophically bad decision for the students, postdocs, staff/faculty and the discipline as a whole. Standing in support of @UniShefArch as they tell the University Executive Board that they reject this decision. #archaeology#USheffieldArchaeology
This is absolutely disgraceful.
The university should be absolutely ashamed of this action.
We need to take action, stand with Sheffield Archaeology (@UniShefArch) and stop this from repeating itself.

Today we were informed that the University Executive Board is proposing to close the Department of Archaeology. As a department we unanimously reject this decision, and the grounds upon which it was made. It will mean the end of Archaeology at Sheffield.
We will prevail. Archaeology will never be destroyed, and we need to show the world how amazing, inspiring, hard working, connecting, diverse and fantastic you all are!
AHAS STANDS WITH SHEFFIELD!

You may have seen what has been happening at Sheffield University the past couple of days.
If you haven’t seen, the university’s archaeology department is currently under review over its future, due to “understaffing”.
