The U.S. just built a new battle tank for the future of War. For 46 years, the M1 Abrams has been America's favourite battle tank, so they kept upgrading it until the Army's own generals admitted the design had hit its ceiling. With every new upgrade, the Abrams just kept getting heavier and heavier until, in September 2023, the Army cancelled all further work, including everything they had already paid for. What replaced it instead is the M1E3: the first Abrams with no gas turbine, no human loader, and no one sitting in the turret at all.
