Religious Scholars Are Those Whom Allah Has Made Witnesses to His Oneness: Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri Addresses Scholarly Gathering in Oslo
Oslo, Norway: His Eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and Prof. Dr. Hassan Mohiuddin Qadri, Chairman Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, participated in a special scholarly session organized in honor of religious scholars at the Islamic Center Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Oslo.
On this occasion, Shaykh-ul-Islam delivered a detailed address on the virtues and responsibilities of religious scholars. He stated that religious scholars are, in reality, those distinguished personalities whom Almighty Allah has made witnesses to His Oneness and truth. He emphasized that their true identity lies in being “Qaim bil-Qist”—those who remain steadfast upon justice and fairness at all times and never deviate from the demands of justice in any matter.
While continuing his address, Shaykh-ul-Islam stressed that scholarly discourse must always be based on sound research and strong evidence. Explaining the proper order of scholarly reasoning, he stated that priority must first be given to the Holy Qur’an, followed by the Prophetic Hadith (peace and blessings be upon him), then Ijma (consensus) and Qiyas (analogical reasoning), and finally Ijtihad and personal opinion, as maintaining this order is essential for preserving academic and scholarly standards.
During the session, Shaykh-ul-Islam also responded to various scholarly and research-based questions raised by the participants. The gathering was attended by a large number of scholars from different schools of thought, including Mufti Tahir Aziz, Hafiz Sadaqat Ali Qadri, Hafiz Safdar Ali, Qari Ansar Ali Qadri, Mufti Zubair Tabassum, Allama Arshad Zia, Haroon Qayyum, Allama Kaukab Noorani, Allama Muhammad Jameel Mortensrud, Allama Najeeb-ur-Rehman Naz, Allama Naseer Ahmad Noori, Allama Noor Ahmad Noor, Syed Nehmat Ali Shah, Syed Firasat Ali Bukhari, Qari Muhammad Aslam, Qari Israr Ahmad, Qari Jahangir Drammen, Qari Mahmood-ul-Hasan, Qari Noor Ali Sialvi, Syed Zawar Hussain Naqvi, Qari Rehmat Ilahi, Syed Shamshad Rizvi, Allama Hamid Farooq, Allama Nasir Ali, Qari Shiraz Madani, Syed Hasnain Gilani, Qari Ahmad Bilal Shah, Allama Inam Awan, Qari Zia-ul-Hasnain, Masoom Zubair, Syed Hassan Rizvi, Allama Saleem Alvi, Allama Javed, Allama Bashir Ahmad, Allama Ateeq-ur-Rehman, Allama Abid Kashmiri, Faisal Qayyum, Syed Bilal Imtiaz Shah, Qari Syed Farid, and many other scholars and spiritual leaders from Oslo and surrounding areas.

His Eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Prof. Dr. Hassan Mohiuddin Qadri, Chairman Supreme Council, MQI, and Dr. Ghazala Qadri, President MWL International, participated in a meeting with the Women’s Forum and female leads of MQI Norway. Office bearers were given the opportunity to introduce themselves before the session commenced with Qur’an recitation by Farah Batool from Minhaj Halqa-e-Durood, followed by a nasheed presented by sisters from various forums under the leadership of Anjum Butt, Minhaj Halqa-e-Durood.
The theme of the day focused on our understanding of religion and how we practice it. Shaykh-ul-Islam emphasized that Islam is not limited to temporary rituals but is a lifelong practice that should shape every aspect of life. His Eminence noted that many people today practice religion in a seasonal manner, which creates a distance between faith and daily life.
His Eminence further explained that religion should become a natural part of our thinking, actions, and environment, rather than something separated from everyday life. Just as societal rules provide freedom within limits, religion also grants freedom within defined boundaries.
It was further highlighted that religion is about discipline and structure rather than restriction. A lack of consistent religious practice has led to identity challenges, particularly among youth. Therefore, the role of parents is crucial, and religious initiatives must focus on developing lasting values so that faith becomes a natural part of life.
During the program, shields were also presented to office bearers who demonstrated outstanding performance, including: Sameen Shabbir (Finance Secretary), Saira Nisar (Minhaj Women Forum, Kløfta), Iqra Ejaz Ahmed and Khadijah Mahmood (Learning and Development). Several sisters from different forums were also awarded diplomas in recognition of their contributions.
Among the participants were Sameen Shabbir (Deputy Finance Secretary, NEC), Nazia Batool (President, MHD Norway and President, MWL Europe), Samina Ishaq (President, MWL Oslo), Saira Nisar (President, MWL Kløfta), Halima Siddique (President, MWL Drammen), Iqra Mushtaq Khan (President, MS), Ayesha Khan (President, MDF), Iqra Ejaz Ahmed (Lead, Learning and Development), and Nazima Ansari (Lead, Marketing and Social Media).
