GPT-6.1 Terra substantially outperforms GPT-5.6 Terra on Agents’ Last Exam, a test of how well agents use software at work.
It even matches GPT-6 Astra at one-tenth the price per token and finishes tasks over 3× faster on average than both Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol.
I've seen people describe Jev as an "AI if statement". But what if it actually WAS an if statement?
Introducing Probably: a programming language powered by Jev: https://t.co/6OqaNPRK6b
Jev baked into the language. “feels” asks a question. “match” routes between descriptions. “while” keeps going until something stops feeling true.
This is obviously a toy, but it's fun to think about what something like Jev unlocks. Jev makes the decisions, an LLM does the writing, and a little program ties it together.
The next great "language for agents" should be:
- As fast as Rust
- As little design space as Go
- Have the strictest type/verification system ever written
Bend seems like an interesting first effort
@mattpocockuk Couldn’t the language itself remain deterministic while treating AI inference like an external API call? The model makes a probabilistic decision, but the language handles the result deterministically 🤔
I completely agree with you. Programming languages should be deterministic.
But I feel like the next big thing is having intelligence as a first-class feature of the language, maybe through built-in AI primitives for smarter if/switch statements, while keeping the language itself deterministic somehow 🤔
Copilot’s harness is already mediocre, and its CLI and VS Code UI somehow make it worse.
So I made Codex manage and delegate tasks to it. Had some unused Copilot tokens anyway.
Astra is much better at planning than Opus 5.5, It involves me in the decisions, explains the tradeoffs, and tells me why one approach is better than another.
Opus 5.5 just makes decisions on its own, like an arrogant person who thinks it knows what’s best for me, It’s honestly annoying.
I’m convinced 95% of being a high performer is to just do 5 things:
- Be obsessed like a psychopath
- Have delusional optimism
- Avoid unserious people
- Take asymmetric risks
- Be relentless
