PIP fraud at the end of the financial year 2023 were 0.2%.
The idea that PIP payments are an "open goal" for fraud is total nonsense. Shameful that it's been repeated so liberally (and without correction!) over the past week.
It's not a Nigerian care worker, a Filipino nurse or a Polish builder making your life a misery.
It's the politician who tells you to point the finger elsewhere while they have their foot on your neck.
As we stuff ourselves over Christmas it is worth remembering the coming food crisis - or to put it bluntly - how we will soon have no food and will be starving.
This is a great article on the total mess of our farming system and our political culture which has made it into a total mess.
As someone who farmed and delivered veg directly to 1000s of households for two decades, I am well aware of all the problems. I think what is needed here is a sequencing strategy, rather than being overwhelmed with the enormity of the difficulties.
What the article misses are the social dynamics. There is a tendency to just pile into the technical and material solutions, rather than focus on the social dynamics which lead to the political will to create those solutions. In other words, we have a problem of organisation, of community, connection, and trust.
The main priority has to be to create these new social potentialities via communication spaces - more concretely, assemblies both in communities, and within the farming sector - where people can listen and feel listened to.
Only then can we build alliances for what is objectively needed - i.e., more resilient supply lines etc. I will be writing a lot more about this in 2025. The food crises are now locked in. What is not locked in is how we prepare and respond to them.

Best news report of the day here - credit where it’s due to RTE 😂👏🇵🇸
And even some credit to the Judge today who fairly said:
“I am sure there is not a lot Kneecap can agree with His Majesty’s Government on”
And finished with “go raibh mhaith agaibh” 🔥
Cats: We're not going out there.
Me: I'm not sending you out there.
Cats: You looked at us as if you thought we should be out there.
Me: I was just looking out there.
Cats: First you looked at us, then you looked out there.
Me: So?
Cats: You're obsessed with out there.
Former MI6 chief, Sir Alex Younger gives some Brexit truths.
“Putin would’ve been absolutely delighted by our decision (to leave the EU) and so would Xi.”
“Particularly since I've left office and I've travelled around Europe, I'm profoundly depressed.
“Just nobody mentions the UK. We've made ourselves irrelevant. And this is extraordinary. The beginning part of this century, we were the dominant force. France has effectively eclipsed us and you just don't hear a discussion of us.”
“I think Brexit has Brexit has marginalised us. It was kind of intended to do exactly that.”
