The AHSAA Radio Network Coastal Alabama High School Baseball Player of the Year presented by Greene & Phillips - Injury Lawyers is Faith Academy - Rams senior pitcher, Christian Freeman.
Christian not only led his Ram baseball team to the 6A State Championship. Christian was also honored by his coaches and teammates to be able to wear the jersey of legendary Faith Academy teacher and baseball coach Lloyd Skoda. Wearing the Number 7 Jersey, formally worn by Coach Skoda recognizes the special contributions that a Faith Academy baseball player gives not only to his team, but also to his school and classmates, and you must be a very special teammate to wear #7.
During the season Christian had a 11-2 Record in 77 innings. His ERA was 1.97 with 100 strikeouts... only giving up 54 hits.
During the state championship run Christian was given credit for winning 4 of 5 playoff games.
Coach Matt Seymour says this of Christian Freeman, “Christian checks off all the boxes, he is a team leader, a spiritual leader, and excellent in academics. The #7 criteria is fully met by Christian Freeman."
Obviously a big game pitcher, Christian has signed a baseball scholarship to further his baseball career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
