I'VE COMPILED ALL THE TRUTHS ABOUT #MNL48 SO YOU WON'T HAVE TO:
1. HHE staff members were later transferred into MNL48 Inc., which was eventually renamed POS Inc. due to trademark issues.
2. Everything was going great for MNL48 because of the efforts of GM Abby, Andi, and Dana. However, after Sulong Con, MNL48 suddenly stopped posting. It seems that Kurosawa started a legal battle against the new management, which forced them to rename MNL48 Inc. to POS Inc. and even attempt to change the MNL48 branding itself. Little did they know that Kuro P still had access to Spotify and Apple Music, which caused the songs and releases to disappear. That was when they realized that Kuro P could still copyright and control everything while the legal battle was ongoing, which eventually led them to give up.
3. It seems that GM Abby's didn't chose to renew her contract earlier this May, which was also the same date she was announced as the GM of MNL48, or she resigned due to the inactivity and the constant criticism calling her a useless manager. However, the real reason appears to be the ongoing legal battle, which prohibited the use of MNL48 social media accounts. That is why we barely heard anything from MNL48 for such a long time until the release of the PFC 2026 MV, which seemed to be Abby's last appeal to management. She might have even spoke to Kuro P, in exchange for Abby leaving the group, before the PFC MV was suddenly published.
4. Former MNL48 members Riri and Maj shared screenshots of conversations with Miyaka's older sister, Elijah Mazza. However, those screenshots were later used against Abby, with accusations being directed at her because she was part of management and also a former member. It is unfair to claim that Abby tolerated everything when we didn'tknow what really happened she was obviously pointing finger to Abby but in the screenshots involving Abby on an event, where Abby asked Maj to go home by booking her a Grab ride at Abby's own expense because she was worried that Maj would be left alone in the hotel room without food and without any adult supervision. Ethan, who was the road manager of the group, was also not allowed to stay in the same room because they were of different genders.
5. Livestreaming was not part of the members' original contracts. However, Livebuzz later insisted on introducing livestreaming, which resulted in the members being given new contracts related to livestream activities. The members were reportedly required to complete hourly quotas before receiving their salary. Hazel, a former HHE employee, was the one handling this system. Based on the screenshots, Hazel was reminding Riri that she needed to complete her required livestream hours. Riri's required hours appeared to be longer than most members because Abby insisted on doubling her salary due to Riri being far from her family. Unfortunately, management also increased the number of hours Riri had to render, which eventually caused her exhaustion and burnout. Based on the situation, Abby did not directly manage the livestreaming side because it was under Livebuzz and not MNL48 itself, meaning Abby had little to no control over it since the instructions came from the Japan management.
6. The new management eventually left Abby to face the backlash and anger of the fans. Mirai even had to stay at Abby's apartment for some time. Abby also used her own van for transportation, her studio for livestreaming at certain points, and even her own apartments whenever members needed a place to stay late.
7. At this point, all copyrights now appear to be handled again by HHE or Kuro P, as seen on Spotify and Apple Music. It seems that he ultimately won the legal battle. Maybe there are plans to bring back MNL48 in the future, or maybe he will simply continue collecting the royalties. That is the whole story.

MNL48 announced on Wednesday its disbandment, with the group’s activities set to conclude at the end of May 2026.
The statement, posted on the group's official account, cited sustainability concerns, future operating environment, and structural challenges in continuing its operations.
“After extensive discussions with all relevant parties, P.O.S Inc. has made the difficult decision to conclude MNL48's activities as of the end of May 2026. Throughout its activities, MNL48 has been supported by many fans, members, staff, and all those involved. However, after carefully considering the sustainability of the management structure, the future operating environment, and the various conditions necessary to continue supporting the group in a stable manner, we have come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to continue MNL48's activities going forward,” the statement read.
The group further confirmed that the music video for "Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie," released on YouTube today, May 20, 2026, will serve as its final work.
Dubbed “pioneers of modern P-pop,” MNL48 was formed in 2018 as sister group of J-pop act AKB48. The Filipino girl group are known for their hit tracks “Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie,” “365 Araw ng Eroplanong Papel,” “RIVER,” and “Ikaw ang Melody” among others.(Facebook/MNL48)

mnl48, who witnessed the rise of new ppop groups, now will never witness the spotlight they are all yearning for. it's such a tragedy knowing they released "pag-ibig fortune cookie" as their last song when in reality, luck was never in their favor.
