@SweetLikeAli I'm honestly not seeing it as an argument at all! I've seen the trend you're talking about – and I am definitely finding the salary expectations hard to keep up with! I'm just trying to understand what's behind it. Your point about the colleges talking up corp/tech is spot on.

@SweetLikeAli That could be it! But as you'll know better than anyone, so many coming into journo/creative roles have degrees that could get them into a corp grad programme. They're trying to get the best deal for themselves... the margins of our businesses don't really matter from their POV!

@SweetLikeAli Sorry, that may have come across wrong. I'm just conscious that our (as in people who came into the workforce in late 00s/early 10s) have a different perception of the value of money. And a lot of that is down to cost of living!

@SweetLikeAli Oh sorry, I hadn't seen that! Yeah it's a big number – but companies are paying it (and more). Admittedly it may be for less interesting work, or work that's prob less aligned with what they want to do, but if you're renting in Dublin at the min you might not have the choice.

@SweetLikeAli How are we defining 'massive salaries' though? Vs what we earned at the same age? People need to survive first and foremost; graft or can-do attitude can't pay this week's rent, and I don't see what other option a renting grad would have.

@peterjmcgann Alternative take: Clemenza/Tessio at the end of Pt I represented the two divergent options you have in a position like that. Greed vs loyalty, self-advancement vs submission to the org, etc. Their respective deaths represent the natural (idealised) conclusions to those arcs.
